  • Leafy and family-friendly Aube campsite on the shores of Lake Amance
  • Nigloland theme park 20 minutes’ drive; medieval Troyes 40 minutes
  • Swimming pool and bike hire on site; watersports five minutes’ walk
If you’re considering a camping getaway in the Aube and need somewhere with lots and lots for active kids to do, take a look at Camping du Tertre, 10 minutes’ walk from lakeside Dienville. On-site facilities include an outdoor pool complex and bike hire, plus an extensive play area for younger kids And that’s just for starters. This family-friendly spot is five minutes’ walk from a sandy beach and watersports opportunities galore on the shores of Lake Amance. As if that’s not enough, the campsite is in the middle of the Parc Naturel Régional de la Forêt d’Orient, offering up a myriad of hiking and cycling routes, while the rollercoasters and waterslides of Nigloland theme park are only 20 minutes’ drive away. But what about the amenities on site? They all cater superbly for families too. Your foodie needs are taken care of, thanks to the daily breakfast service, an informal licensed bar, snacks available from the Cabane de Tiph and a menu of family favourites like burgers and pizzas in the restaurant. If you’d rather stick to the self-catering regime, there’s also a grocery shop for stocking up on everyday essentials.

Local attractions

Most families make a beeline for Lake Amance to laze on the sandy beach and take refreshing dips in pristine waters. More active members of your clan can head for Ski Nautique Club de L’Aube to race around on jetskis or monoskis, play beach soccer at the dedicated pitch or learn to sail dinghies from Port Dienville marina (all five minutes’ walk). If you’re feeling like some adult downtime after all that haring around, quieter pursuits include explorations of the gorgeous medieval heart of Troyes (40 minutes’ drive), with its half-timbered houses and cosy bistros on cobbled streets. Or how about taking a tour of recreated 19th-century interiors and formal gardens at Château de Vaux (also 40 minutes)? If you don’t want to stir so far from home base, pretty Dienville (10 minutes’ walk) awaits with its statuesque church, lively daily market, walks along Lake Amance and a choice of terrace cafés and pizzerias.

What customers say

Spacious, well-kept sites, friendly staff, and a great lake location. Guests enjoyed the pool, playground, and restaurant. Some facilities showed age, but cleanliness was good. Pool temps/availability varied.

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Stayed here for 4 days, great location for the lakes and champagne tasting. Large shaded pitches. The lady on sight (I believe the owners wife) is very knowledgable and can recommend a lot of great cellars to visit in the area. The site is great for kids with a lovely play area and the pool was not that busy and an amazing place to unwind after taking on the 61km bike ride round all the lakes, which was a great way to see the whole area. Local village and harbour also have some lovely restaurants, which are literally opposite the site.

Disliked No negative, loved the site.

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Large secluded pitches, with a great play area just across the road from a marina with restaurants and a beach on the lake.
The pool was lovely and there is Italian ice-cream in the bar area. There is a restaurant and the food looked good but we didn't use it.

Disliked French plug was needed.
The beach doesn't allow dogs and it was difficult to find anywhere for the dog to cool down, 35 degrees. We did find a river just round the corner so problem solved

2 bedroom mobile home (six person)

Ready tent (four person)

Liked We stayed in a 4-person ready tent at Camping du Tertre and absolutely loved it. The photos don’t do it justice – the tent was spacious, comfortable, and in a well-kept area. It was perfect for us as a family who wanted the tenting experience without the hassle of putting one up! Everything we needed for the week was provided, which made our stay so easy.

The campsite itself was fantastic. The children adored the pools, which were always clean and well looked after. The location is amazing, right next to a beautiful lake, and it really made the holiday special. Staff were friendly, helpful, and always on hand with useful information. Facilities were spotless and well maintained, and the washing machines were brilliant.

We honestly couldn’t fault our stay – we loved it and would definitely return!

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Fred the campsite owner and his family were excellent hosts. Very friendly and welcomed all their guests with enthusiasm pointing out all the services that were available to them. Bikes available for hire on site were great for cycling around the lake. Campsite facilities were clean and well looked after.
The Restaurant Aux Trois Pianos in the town was lovely and worth a visit.
Great location for stopping off on the way to or from Calais. Will definitely stay again in the future.
