  • Seaside and cultural holidays in Brittany
  • Fifteen minutes from the ocean and near Quimper and Concarneau
  • Aquatic park with covered pool, outdoor pool and waterslides
Aller et investigate the landscape, coast, cultural and beaucoup foodie highlights of southern Brittany from Camping Le Bois de Pleuven, for it's pretty well placed for all. A peaceful family park, Camping Le Bois de Pleuven is near south Bretagne's big towns of Quimper and Concarneau, 15 minutes from the ocean, and in the Pleuven woods near the town of Saint-Yvi. The team reckons this is in a topping spot to mix a Brittany seaside holiday with Breton cultural heritage, and we reckon they're right. A bit of on-site leisure usually goes down well on French campsites too: this one has an aquatic park with a covered pool, an outdoor pool, a children's pool and a waterslide; and the means for pétanque, tennis, table tennis, mini golf and badminton. There's a fitness trail and a playground too as well as a multisports ground for football, basketball and volleyball; activities for kids are organised by the team in July and August. Other essential bits on site are a launderette with washing machine and dryer, wifi access at reception, and a snack bar with a TV and takeaway food.

Powered grass and gravel campsite

Liked Lovely pitch surrounded by trees and bushes. Quite private. Shower massive but cleaned with a hose which while effective left the whole block floor wet luckily not slippery. Some nice cycle ways to near by port and village. Easy friendly check in at Tohapi reception.

Disliked Some what grumpy attitude in the bar when collecting the bread in the mornings. We didn’t try the restaurant having looked at other people’s comments many very limited and the shop attached did have a great deal of stock. The guy at reception was keen to point out the was run by a different concern.
The site is not located where indicated on Pitch ups map!!!!

Local attractions

Fab Finistère has heaps going for it whatever flavour of holidaymaker one is: start off at the beaches of Kerleven and Cap-Coz, then have a day among the walled city, marinas, fishing ports and more beaches of the cracking Cornouaille region: if that reminds you of Cornwall, you'd be right. The medieval and Celtic city of Quimper is probably the most traditional and old-school in all of Brittany and is the site of the Festival de Cornouaille, going strong in town since the early 1920s. It's also home to the Jardin de la Retraite, a quiet garden nearly an acre in size within the city's old ramparts, and to the Château de Lanniron, the former summer holiday hotspot of Cornish bishops: visit here to see the park and gardens. Sift through Brittany's culture and heritage at Bénodet, the town on the Breton Riviera with a museum showcasing Bretagne history and daily life throughout the ages; another is at Pont l'Abbe and covers trad Breton dress and fashion: now you'll see why some local women wear those hats. Also must-sees in the area are the Parc naturel régional d'Armorique or Armorica Regional Natural Park, running from the Atlantic Ocean to hilly countryside inland, and the Glénan islands, the archipelago to the south of Finistère and with schools for sailing and diving.
