  • Peaceful, green and spacious woodland site in Finistère countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Tréguennec beach and nature area
  • Four hectares of space, and hiking paths from the grounds
Brittany and Bigouden country… beetle along to Le Bonheur Côté Pré for both of these plus Brittany beaches, Brittany coastline and ancient Breton heritage close by at Quimper. Le Bonheur Côté Pré is a peaceful and pretty green and woodland site in Finistère (see pics), a five-minute drive from Plonéour-Lanvern. The beaches, dunes and protected natural area of Tréguennec are 10 minutes from the park and the twin-spired cathedral of Quimper within 25. The site covers four hectares, with accommodation areas under the apple trees for a bit of shade on sunny days. It’s family- and dog-friendly (so you can bring the whole clan along), with a playground, plenty of room to roam and organised entertainment. Regular events such as pancake parties are arranged by the Le Bonheur Côté Pré team… Once you’re feeling suitably stuffed, set out on one of the hiking paths starting directly from the grounds or make tracks into Bénodet and mosey along the marina. This town less than 25 minutes from the site also has a casino for high rollers and a thalassotherapy centre for spa times. If beaches are more your bag, Penmarch and its pretty Plage de Pors Carn is 20 minutes away; follow the bay as it curves around to the north for treks along the Pointe de la Torche promontory, making sure to visit the prehistoric tomb and keep an eye out for surfers tackling world-class waves.

Local attractions

Tréguennec, 10 minutes' drive from Le Bonheur Côté Pré, is a famed Bay of Audierne spot for wildlife watching, surfing and sailing; those who want to ride around the area can gee up the horses from a centre 10 minutes away. And other things to do in this lovely locale? You can hotfoot it to the half-timbered houses and Breton County Museum of Quimper with its archaeological exhibits and traditional dress displays half an hour away, or drop by the Faience Museum in town to peruse the well-known style of pottery from the area. To get back out into the wild landscapes afterwards, the Phare d'Eckmühl working lighthouse with a dramatic backdrop is 30 minutes from the site while the Pointe du Raz headland – oft called the 'end of the world' thanks to being France’s most westerly point – is 55 minutes away. Guided tours can be taken from the welcome centre or you can tramp through the gorse and heather by yourself; on a fine day, eagle eyes can see all the way towards Île de Sein off the coast…
