  • Friendly Finistère site 15 minutes' walk from Fouesnant
  • A 10-minute walk from Cap Coz beach; 25 mins' drive from Concarneau
  • Heated indoor pool and lots of summer-season activities
You’ll certainly not want to forget your swimming togs at Camping de Kersentic – Cap Coz beach is only a 10-minute stroll away from this family-friendly Finistère site 15 minutes’ walk from Fouesnant. And that’s still true for folk coming along at a time when the sea might be just a tad too chilly for proper swims, as there’s a pool on site, under cover and with a kids’ pool and heated waters. The pool’s the setting for aqua zumba classes in summer, just one feature of a lively programme of activities that also packs high-season days full of sports tournaments, pétanque contests, karaoke crooning and kids’ club goings-on. Ice creams and cold beers to help such proceedings along can be picked up at the site’s shop and bar, and post-pétanque eats can be sorted at the snack bar, which serves up roast chicken, homemade chips and the like. It’s certainly worth being around for eats on a Sunday, as that’s the day Laurent the pizza man swings by with his tasty wares. If you’re heading out to eat, there are restaurants on town or by the beach; if eating in, you can try your luck with a fishing rod at the beach or seek more reliable supplies at the town’s supermarkets and shops.

Local attractions

Cap Coz beach is a real corker: two kilometres of sand stretch out onto a peninsula with woods and a river estuary behind. There are safe, shallow waters for the tiddlers to splash about in, and kayaks or paddleboards to hire for a bit of extra exploration. The rocky areas are fab for fishing and at low tide there may be some good pickings to be had in the rock pools. Quiet paths along the coast and through local woods are fine places for a horseback outing (from the stables five minutes’ drive away) or by bike. If you choose the latter you may like to plan routes to take in more of the area’s gorgeous beaches, or to fill your panniers with flagons of the region’s famed cider to sip once you’re safely installed back at base. Or bike to Beg-Meil (15 minutes) for ferries to the white sands of the Glénan Islands. Setting sights a little further afield, day trips might also include outings to the half-timbered houses of Quimper (half an hour’s drive), medieval Concarneau (25 minutes) or the seafood restaurants of Le Guilvinec (40 minutes).

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Excellent location for the village and amenities and a short walk through the back of the site to Cap Coz beach. Site was well kept and clean. Large level pitch with boundary hedges. Very polite and helpful staff. Swimming pool was very welcoming.

Disliked: Onsite facilities included a bar and entertainment but was only open in the High Season - July and August Poor TV reception so take your own Wi-fi if possible
