Local attractions

Visit the beautiful fifteenth-century Château de Bienassis, used as a prison during the French Revolution, and explore its gardens, moats, courtyards, and chapels. Discover the medieval town of Mont Saint Michel, situated in the middle of a bay, and walk along the Grande Rue, with museums, shops and houses dating from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Visit the parish church consecrated to St-Pierre, the patron saint of fishermen, and enjoy beautiful views over the bay when going down the ramparts path. Don't miss out Cap Fréhel, set on high limestone cliffs overlooking the sea to the north, and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the place. There are two lighthouses at Cap Fréhel - one built by Louis XIV in 1650 and the other dating from 1950. The latter can be visited, and in clear weather even the Channel islands can be seen in the distance. A few kilometres east of Cap-Fréhel you will find one of the most popular chateaux in Brittany, Fort de la Latte, dating back to the fourteenth-century, while a short distance west of the Cap you can enjoy beautiful beaches at Sables d'Or-les-Pins and the historical centre of Dinard for your evening promenade and dinner. Last but not least, take a trip to Saint-Malo, visit the castle museum, built by the Dukes of Brittany in the fifteenth century, the hotel Asfeld, the cathedral, then stroll along the beach to see the Fort National and the tiny islands of Grand Bé and Petit Bé only accessible at low tide. Enjoy a shopping trip to the walled town full of small shops and sunny terraces and take your children to the Grand Aquarium, home to one of the finest collections of sharks and fish from the oceans and seas around the world.
