It's free, quick and easy!
- Family site close to the Cerisy Forest Nature Reserve
- 15 mins from Bayeux and 35 from Omaha beach and the American Cemetery
- Indoor pool with balneo area, terrace bar, snack bar and library
A peaceful green setting a few minutes' drive from a fab forest nature reserve? With the D-Day landing beaches and the Normandy coast within a scenic 30 minutes – and Bayeux within 15? And how about pampering oneself on site on days in between? If your response to all these is a fervent oui, then Camping Le Clos de Balleroy is the place for you.
Pampering and lazing should be your main priorities for days back on site, as there's an indoor pool and balneo area to soothe away any stresses at, along with a terrace bar, a library with books and board games for contemplative hours, and free wifi around the snack bar. A kids' club, playground and bouncy castle are around to get the kids nicely tired out in time for the grownups settling down for the evening.
The Le Clos de Balleroy snack bar is open for lunch and dinner during the summer, and you can order bread and pastries for delivery the next morning. Or sort out your own meals by hiring a barbecue from the site team and picking up supplies at the site grocery store or at the shops an 800-metre stroll away, where there's another grocery store, a butcher and a bakery along with a bar, a pharmacy and a hair salon if you so desire any of the three.
The site also has ping pong tables, a bowling alley and a volleyball court.

Local attractions
The fab forest of Cerisy is a few minutes' drive from the site or about 20 minutes by bike if you've brought your own two wheels. Take one of the cycling or hiking trails to go off on a nature spotting adventure: look out for foxes, badgers, boars and deer on the ground, and little-eared owls and woodpeckers up among the trees.
The site is well placed for most World War II remembrance sites: Gold beach is 31 kilometres away; Omaha 33, Juno 38, Utah 54 and Sword 55. The Bayeux Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery, the biggest World War II War British military cemetery in the region, is 15 minutes' drive away.
The medieval town of Bayeux is a famed destination in the region for more ancient reasons too, as it's home to the Bayeux Tapestry, 68 metres of painstakingly sewn length telling the story of the Battle of Hastings and the invasion of England by William of Normandy.
