- Peaceful site in a wine-growing village near the Canal des Deux Mers
- Walk or cycle along the canal path; half an hour’s drive from Agen
- Wine cellar, shops, restaurant and boat hire within walking distance
Base yourself in the wine-growing village of Buzet-sur-Baïse, where the peaceful, shaded pitches of Camping Le Clos La Tour are just 100 metres from Canal des Deux Mers.
This sort of spot doesn’t come around often: there’s a wine cellar within walking distance for those wanting to indulge in a cellar tour or tasting, and also within walking distance, guests can take charge of an electric rental boat along the canal or the river Baïse (just think of all those lovely, green shores you’ll pass by).
There’s plenty to do without setting foot in the car in addition to the aforementioned. Buzet-sur-Baïse has a small grocery shop, a bakery, newsagent, pizzeria, hairdresser, restaurant, post office and a pharmacy all within walking distance of Camping Le Clos La Tour. Rent a bicycle just 50 metres away for afternoons gliding along the canal greenway too.
The canal’s hiking and cycling trail is just one pick from a far larger bunch of trails. The Lot-et-Garonne earned its reputation as ‘the orchard of France’ for its wide choice of fruits and vegetables, and all the stunning farms, vineyards and canals go hand in hand with excellent hiking trails and outdoor activities like canoeing, horse-riding or treetop assault courses (all a short drive away from the site).
Camping Le Clos La is large and spacious with facilities like toilets and a shower. One of the preferred spots for guests to chill out or seek shelter is the living room based inside a communal caravan. Meals are also available to order on site in takeaway fashion.

Local attractions
Feeling like a swim, rather than a cycle or a boat trip? It doesn’t matter that you’re far from the seaside, with Lac du Moulineau de Damazan (five minutes’ drive) so nearby. Its sandy beach is splendid for swims, picnics, volleyball and also water-skiing, as there’s a water ski lift available.
Make your way downstream to lovely Agen (half an hour), known for its plump prunes and 539-metre canal bridge. A stroll around the river, Renaissance townhouses and to the museum housing 19th-century frescoes is more than enough for an afternoon (or indeed two).
Villeneuve-sur-Lot (45 minutes) is another great spot for a day trip. How so? There’s a 13th-century bridge, a grand chapel, a square lined with arcades, ancient gates and a market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, and the list goes on…
