  • Beaches 10 minutes' drive away; 20 minutes to Bayonne
  • Multisports court, miniature golf and heated outdoor pool on site
This is a lovely Landes location – one of those places where it’s equally easy to explore the local countryside or get over to the coast for a day at the beach. Just under a kilometre from the village of Saint-André-de-Seignanx, Camping Le Ruisseau is a family-friendly site that’s in an excellent spot for taking in the many attractions and activities of this region. What you fill your days with around here is up to you – perhaps you’d like to wander along the rural paths that take you out to see the surrounding meadows, forests and canals, or maybe you’d like to make a beeline for the coast and its beaches, bike path and watersports. Bayonne and Biarritz are within a half-hour drive, too. So that’s plenty to do nearby – but there’s also plenty to do right there on site. Leisure facilities here include a heated outdoor pool, a miniature golf course, a pétanque court, a multisports court and a play area. For a quieter time, settle on one of the sun loungers by the pool, chill out in the TV room or head to reception for a relaxed breakfast, a drink or an ice cream. Other amenities at this quiet tree-lined park include a launderette, a barbecue area, a food shop, wifi and a spacious bathroom block with toilets and hot showers. Nearby, there’s a bakery and a café-restaurant about 10 minutes’ walk away and a supermarket five minutes’ drive away. Bus services to the beach and Bayonne are around a mile from the site.

Local attractions

Start with a stroll along one of the local paths – depending on which way you turn you may end up in the forest, on the banks of a canal or in the Marais d’Orx National Nature Reserve (an important habitat for water birds). There are also cycling and mountain bike trails nearby, and you can hire boats about 15 minutes’ drive away for adventures on the Adour river. Heading towards the coast, it will only take you about 10 minutes to drive to the beaches of Ondres (with a surf school), Labenne (also home to a zoo) and Tarnos (with some handy indoor options like a trampoline park). Hossegor and Capbreton (both 20 minutes’ drive) are also great options, or you may like to pedal between a few beaches on the Vélodyssée bike path. Other days out nearby might take you over to Bayonne (20 minutes) – to see the half-timbered houses, visit the Musée Basque and sample some of the town’s famed ham – or to Biarritz (half an hour) to visit the aquarium and hang out on the Grand Plage.
