  • Family site in the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park
  • Bar/restaurant, swimming pools, multisports pitch and playground
  • Bike hire on site and several cycle paths nearby
A peaceful family vibe prevails at this quiet site near Parentis-en-Born in the Landes, along with a plethora of pursuits for all ages... you and yours will have access to two heated pools, a playground, a multisports pitch, table tennis, a pétanque court and a TV room… and a kids' club, activities for teenagers and family-friendly evening entertainment such as themed dinners, board game nights and bingo in summer. Activities of all sorts are all around too, as Camping L'Arbre d'Or is in the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park, between the towns of Parentis-en-Born and Lake Biscarosse-Parentis, a short drive from the coast and within walking distance of fishing, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and parasailing on the lake a few hundred metres away. Several cycling trails start just outside the gates, so hire bikes on site to pedal to the lake, beach and into the surrounding countryside. Food options on site cover all tastes: you can eat at the bar-restaurant, use the takeaway service, buy supplies at the mini market or cook on the communal barbecues.

What customers say

Great location, short walk to lake/beaches. Spacious, shaded pitches. Friendly staff, good on-site restaurant, nice pools. Clean facilities, though some find them dated. Entertainment offered. Good regional base. Wi-Fi costs & electric hook-ups can be confusing.

Liked Beautiful location and the range of attractions that could be visited and accessed from the location. Accessible and safe location with excellent facilities for children and the two pools were really nice.

Liked Lovely campsite, the site was very busy but it had a lovely atmosphere, mostly french, not many British/Irish, this was nice, the staff and other campers were really nice and helpful. Lots of children and activities for them, the pool was clean, the bar food and drink is limited but the staff are really friendly. Site was safe and secure, short cycle to the supermarket. The lake beach and grounds is lovely. Showers and campsite in general very clean, super shower/toilet facilities.

Disliked Bar food and drinks a little pricey but this is the case in most places now. You couldn't take your drink to the sun longer on poolside, drink had to be drunk at the bar, be careful when sitting on the stools, make sure to cover seat with a towel, felt like small fibre glass splinters after sitting on for a while.
Not much to do in the town of Parentis-de -born, not recomended if you are looking for a lovely little french village to wander around.

Liked Rien

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Tranquil location, I was on the edge of the site - very peaceful. Clean and generally friendly.

Disliked The check-in time said from 2pm, so I aimed to arrive then. The reception was closed and appeared to be closed until 5. I managed to speak to them and was allowed on after 3 and had to go back to check in. This seemed odd as all they needed was my registration plate to activate the gate. It may have been language but the checkin could be improved. I travelled a long way to get there so just needed to rest. The guy at reception said he would speak with pitch up about checkin

Local attractions

Lifeguarded beaches are at the Lac de Biscarrosse et de Parentis 400 metres away, where you can also go sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and parasailing, or hike into the forest surrounding the water. The 3,540-hectare lake is named after its two local towns, the oil town of Parentis- en-Born and the seaplane settlement of Biscarrosse (planes took off from here in the 1930s for the 60-hour transatlantic flight to New York). The Museum of Petrol is at Parentis- en-Born and the Hydroplane Museum at Biscarrosse if you want to investigate further. Horse riding is available within five kilometres of the site, and a golf course within 10. For more sands, drive the 15 kilometres to Biscarrosse beach, on the edge of the lake. If you're here with kids, they'll likely love a whirl around the Landes Aventure tree climbing park (20 kilometres) and the Aqualand water park, 30 kilometres away. Dune de Pyla, Europe's tallest dune (35km) should also be a sandy hit. Arcachon is 35 kilometres from the site and Bordeaux 75.
