It's free, quick and easy!
- A 25-minute walk along the coast to the Old Town of Rovinj
- Nature reserve, islands, marshes and historical towns all within 33km
- Private beach, seaview restaurant, snack bar, gym and modern amenities
Who fancies a Croatian stay on a seaside site? With its own (dog-friendly) private beach, a gym, a massage gazebo (what a fab idea) and cracking views of the Old Town of Rovinj – 25 minutes' stroll along the spectacular Istrian peninsula coastline? And then there's all the island hopping available too – it's fairly safe to say you'll want to settle down here for quite some time.
All the above is up for grabs at Camping Porton Biondi, a beachfront site set on seven hectares of pine and oak woodland less than two kilometres away from the Croatian fishing port of Rovinj, on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula. The Rovinj archipelago is made up of 19 islands, so island hopping is a popular pastime around here, along with bike tours and hiking trips along the coastline: again, you'll want to settle down here for quite some time…
As well as its own private beach, Camping Porton Biondi has a Mediterranean restaurant serving up a wide selection of local dishes among smashing views out over the bay; a beachside snack bar for cocktails and nibbles in between sunbathing sessions, and a shop selling beach supplies.
There's also a gym on site if you really must have a workout, and an open air massage gazebo if you're sticking to relaxing options. With plenty of different massage treatments and fab views of Rovinj's Old Town, you might want to stay here for quite some time too.

Local attractions
The Istrian peninsula, the biggest in the Adriatic Sea, is well known for its spectacular beaches, quiet coves, clear sea and first-class scenery, so get out around it for days of hiking, walking, biking or tackling the many watersports available in the area.
You could also island hop around the Rovinj archipelago's 19 isles, or bike/hike around its coastline, where the scenery and sights are so spectacular they're designated 'outstanding scenic wonders'.
In town, have a look at the Rovinj Town Museum and the 18th-century Church of St. Euphemia, before a wander along to the Golden Cape (Zlatni rt) Forest Park, four kilometres from base, or the maritime reserve and karstic canyon of the Limska Draga Fjord, five kilometres away. The Bronze Age hill fort of Monkodonja seven kilometres away is also well worth a look, as is the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Euphrasian Basilica, within 32 kilometres.
Other options are the ornithological reserve of the Palud marsh and the Dvije Sestrice islands, 11 kilometres away, and the Byzantine seaside resort of Poreč, 33 kilometres from the site.
