If you’re in the market for an action-packed outdoor holiday, a stay at Camping Resort Riegersburg is likely to suit you rather well. This Steiermark site is at the foot of the Riegersburg hill, a couple of kilometres from the hilltop castle (it’s a steep climb up but well worth it for the views…) Walks, bike rides, horse riding, via ferrata climbing routes, tennis and football are just a few of the activities available locally – and there’s a swimming lake just over the road for a very welcome cooling dip at the end of the day. Need a drink and a meal as well after all your active efforts? This area is known for its cuisine and there are several restaurants, takeaways and taverns within a few minutes’ walk. Barbecues are allowed on site too, so you may prefer to pick something up from the shops and cook your own meals. Established for the 2024 season, this site has all the essential facilities you need for a comfortable stay, including a launderette, a washing-up area, a wifi service and modern bathrooms. There’s a play area for the kids, and guests have access to a lounge with a kitchen area (with hobs and a fridge) as well as seating and a TV.

Local attractions

The place to start is of course Riegersburg Castle (five minutes’ drive/half an hour’s walk) – the property owned by the Liechtenstein royal family has numerous exhibitions, a bird of prey show and various activities including an adventure park and via ferrata climbing trails. For another taste of history, you could also visit Kornberg Castle (10 minutes’ drive) – or step further back in time at Styrassic Park (25 minutes), where you’ll come face to face with over 100 dinosaurs including the world’s largest T-Rex skeleton. If that’s a little terrifying, turn instead towards relaxing days in some of the area’s thermal baths – Bad Gleichenberg (20 minutes) and Bad Waltersdorf (25 minutes) are a couple of the top options nearby. In an area known for its food, you may also like to find out where some of it comes from by stopping by at Zotter Schokolade, The Cheese Artist and David Gölles – house of whiskey, gin & rum (all five minutes), and taking a tour of ‘Ham World’ at Vulcano Schinkenmanufaktur (10 minutes)… sounds like the ingredients for a rather tasty picnic…

Great campsite, clean with spacious spots. Guests loved the amenities like the lounge and play areas, plus a dog-friendly meadow. Free pool access was a big plus! Staff are super friendly. A few mentioned long walks to facilities and water hookups on certain spots, which management is aware of.

Liked Es war soooo toll dort. Alles super sauber, es gibt sogar einen kleinen Industriegeschirrspüler.
Es gibt einen Aufenthaltsraum und Mottotage, sowohl für Kinder als auch Erwachsene. Und Hüpfburg und Spielplatz sind auch top.
Inkludiert ist auch der Eintritt ins Bad gegenüber, das ist dort auch irrsinnig toll.
Hundewiese gibt's auch eine Große, super hundefreundlich.

Disliked Das Einzige, das bei uns bissl blöd war - wenn mal einen Stellplatz in der untersten Reihe hat, ist der Weg zum Klo und Geschirr abwaschen ganz schön weit. Mit 2 kleinen Kindern manchmal sehr knapp gewesen.

Liked Sehr gepflegte Anlage, mega saubere Sanitäranlagen, sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Von uns ein zwei Daumen hoch!!!

Disliked Entfernung hintere Stellplätze zur Toilette. Ist für Menschen, die nicht so gut zu Fuß unterwegs sind, doch schon sehr weit.

Liked Zázemí, sanita, servis, možnosti okolí. Volný vstup do vedlejšího rekreačního centra.

Disliked U stanu byla inzerovaná elektrická přípojka, ale ve skutečnosti nebyla.

Liked I was just breathtaking with location. The camp is situated in small green valley surrounded by several trees. What is worthy to underline is closeness of the beech side. You just need cross the street literally it is maybe 200 m from the camp. Cleenliness of toilets and restrooms (hier it means showers) more then very good. Just excellent. Additionally free acces to the lounge fully equipped with kitchen accessories and even coffe machine. Coffee was also very nice.In a nearby picturesque town and a castle.t
