Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Wide pitch, open areas but within woodland setting and wild animals free to roam

Disliked: Lack of pool. Bar opening hours too restricted, lack of real restaurant nearer office.

Nice site but we would not recommend largely due to staff attitude.

Liked: Nice big pitches. Great camp kitchen.

Disliked: Reception staff attitude was a bit offhand and nor particularly welcoming. Their welcome text message inviting queries was not responded to until after we had left! Eve n then the question was not answered. Toilet/shower blocks were modern and clean but not all showers were working properly. Lakeside bar advertised a happy hour from 4-5. On arrival at 4.30 we were told that we could have a drink at a table but would need to vacate at 5.15 for diners. There were no alternative seating options offered if we had wished to stay on.

Local attractions

Tucked into a landscape that has waterfalls, tall tree trunks and scenic hikes, you should feel quite in tune with nature by the end of your stay. In Warren National Park, the Heartbreak Trail (10 minutes’ drive) weaves in between 90-metre karri trees. They may look spectacularly tall, so it’s a real test of nerve if you decide to climb the Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree (15 minutes) or Gloucester Tree (20 minutes). Both have pegs for adventurous sorts to climb towards the canopies. After those activities, you may be pleased to get back down to earth and sip on some chardonnay or merlot in the Mountford Wines and Tangletoe Cidery (15 minutes) or go for a picnic and a cycle at the Big Brook Dam Foreshore & Picnic Area (25 minutes). There’s a cascade waterfall in Gloucester National Park (20 minutes) for more hikes, but to enjoy the scenery without exerting yourself, the Pemberton Tramway Company (15 minutes) runs train trips into the forests and countryside. Once you’re back in town, visit the historic Pemberton Swimming Pool (15 minutes) that was once used by timber workers in the 1920s.
