  • Family-run site a few minutes from Newport beach
  • Close to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • Short walk into Newport town
Windsurfing, sailing and body boarding… and forts, castles and coastal hiking: all are easily available within a short stroll or a quick drive from family-run Conifers Camping, a few minutes from Newport beach. As you'd expect from a Pembrokeshire coastal site, smashing views over water are on the menu too, stretching over the bay down to Newport town about 10 minutes' walk away. The town has a general store, post office, hardware store, newsagent, butcher and health food store to pick up supplies, as well as plenty of restaurants and pubs. Conifers Camping is a peaceful site for families, couples and well-behaved pets, with amenities including free hot showers, toilets, a launderette and a dishwashing area. Chemical disposal is available on site.

Liked Stunning views of the sea, the beach and mountains, quiet location, great nights sleep, grass pitches, plenty of space, well maintained all round, clean and tidy everywhere, spotless toilets/showers. There were washing machines available to use at a small extra cost. Lots of info around about the local area and things to do. Dog friendly, edee loved it

Disliked (not really a bad bit) Didn’t see anyone when we checked in or at any point during our stay. There’s a number to call after a certain time. Lovely lady answered and said to choose any pitch and said have a lovely stay.

Liked Beautiful views over Newport bay. Spacious pitches. Quiet site as it was outside school holiday time. Easy access to the Parrog.

Disliked Caution for people with mobility issues: It is quite a steep walk from the site down onto the seafront.

Liked We loved peaceful and beautiful location and the quietness and friendliness of the site. Gorgeous bathing spots are a short walk along a lovely path away, and Newport is far enough to feel secluded but close enough to reach on foot.

Local attractions

Pembrokeshire is a place with loads to do, from pottering around ancient sites to launching oneself into the waves off one of its several spectacular beaches. Sailing, windsurfing and body boarding spots are all easy to find very close by. Conifers Camping is a few minutes' drive from the Pembrokeshire coastline and the much-recommended Pembrokeshire Coast Path, accessible via Newport on its 186-mile run. Hike the 15 or so miles from Newport to St Dogmaels if you feel up for a challenge, via dolphin spotting over the Teifi Estuary and seals pupping in autumn on the sands at Cemaes Head; away from the coast, Carn Ingli and the Preseli Hills are also good options for hikes your legs will remember the next day. The Iron Age fort of Castell Henllys is a few miles away and plenty of Pembrokeshire old piles and monuments are around to explore: try Newport and Pembroke castles, the cathedral at tiny St Davids, the Garn Wen burial chamber in Fishguard and the stone circles of the Preseli Hills. Along the coast at Tenby, have an animal day out with a trip to see the inhabitants at Manor House Wildlife Park (aka Anna's Welsh Zoo).
