  • Comfortable bell tents at a peaceful Monmouthshire farm site
  • A five-minute drive to Raglan; 15 minutes to Monmouth
  • Spectacular views of Brecon Beacons peaks; firepit provided
Those visions you have of waking up in the morning and looking out to see some spectacular scenery? Parc Y Deri Farm is a place that can certainly provide… Peek out of your bell tent at this Monmouthshire site and you’ll be greeted with views up to the Sugar Loaf and Skirrid, with the Brecon Beacons forming a rather gorgeous backdrop. There are only a couple of bell tents at this rural site five minutes’ drive from Raglan (and the A40) so you’ll be assured of plenty of space while gazing up at the scenery. And plenty of peace, too – this mini glamping site is part of a family-run sheep and poultry farm so the majority of your neighbours will be farm animals going about their daily business. It’s not just the surrounding area that’s top-notch around here – the bell tents themselves have been set up with a touch of luxury in mind too. The comfy bed will be made up ready for your arrival, and you’ll be provided with lots of handy things including fairy lights, a picnic table and a kettle (plus a couple of little bottles of wine waiting for you on arrival… always a bonus). Making the most of your setting should be pretty straightforward, whether you’re planning a gentle wander around the local farm park and Raglan Castle or setting off to the Brecon Beacons to get a closer look at the peaks. Also on the schedule should be an evening of alfresco cookery, followed by sitting by the firepit as the sun goes down. Logs are supplied and you can pick up any other bits in Raglan or bigger Monmouth (15 minutes’ drive).

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Lovely relaxed site in the countryside. Lots of space, choose-your-own spot, easy arrival. Beautiful views of hills in the distance and sunflowers/wild flowers dividing up areas of the site. Fire pits available & as a great bonus the farmer/site owner brought us some free firewood! Facilities are perfectly adequate.

Disliked: Not really a dislike - but a way of drying hands (hand dryer or paper towels) in the toilet block would have been a bonus.

Liked: Great open space and views, the sunflowers and wild flowers were stunning! The fresh fire wood was plentiful and the field was nice and flat. Good shops up the road.

Liked: The layout and space with being able to just pick a spit and pitch up. The sunflowers were also a very pretty addition.

Disliked: Shower and toilets could have been a little cleaner and better equipped with toilet rolls or should ask to bring own.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Great camp site with simple facilities which were well kept. Nice level pitches with plenty of room and beautiful sunsets. The owner, was friendly and attentive keeping the facilities clean and tidy. He provided fire pit, firewood and strawberries. I felt very welcome on my stop over which was the first night of a motorcycle tour and he even helped me with a flat battery issue - thank you David! Liked it so much I returned for an additional night on my way home.

Disliked: Nothing! It was great

Liked: Lovely site, nice and maintained, very picturesque with sunflowers and the farm in the background. Owners couldn’t have been more welcoming! Even gave us strawberry’s as a gift as we didn’t want any firewood. Going above and beyond to treat us, will definitely be going back. Thankyou!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Loved the open space, peaceful surroundings, friendly and happy host, and the opportunity to put up our tent where we chose. There was plenty of firewood dropped at our tent each evening, with a punnet of strawberries on one evening. We very much enjoyed these touches. The wild flower borders were very pretty and made the space look special. I appreciated that it is a couples/family site only, making it very quiet and friendly. It is a step up from wild camping, with toilets and a shower. Yet maintained the feel of open country camping.

Local attractions

If you’ve brought the kids along (or just fancy cooing over cute animals), head to Raglan Farm Park (five minutes’ drive) to take tractor rides and bottle feed lambs. While you’re in town, stop by at Raglan Castle to see a grand structure dating back to the 15th century. Scenic strolls and scrambles galore await over in the Brecon Beacons National Park (20 minutes). This gorgeous area of hills, mountains and waterfalls can cater for all styles of walker from those looking for simple circular routes to folk who fancy more challenging uphill ascents. There are other options too, like watersports at Llangorse Lake (45 minutes) and gentle pottering in the likes of Crickhowell (25 minutes). Turn east instead and more stunning scenery awaits: this is where the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies. Head to Symonds Yat (20 minutes) to hire canoes to paddle down the river or head to the Forest of Dean for its sculpture trail and Puzzlewood (both half an hour).
