Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Lucinda made us feel so relaxed and welcome. The campsite is brilliantly thought out, and although it was a busy Saturday, each pitch had plenty of room from each other. There were holistic therapies happening when we stayed, and I hope to visit again soon and book these for the next stay. It is a site that gives very much a wild camping experience, but still with facilities such as a toilet and shower and wash area. Kept really clean and well maintained. Lucinda kept in touch prior to arrival and gave plenty of information on the site, local places and how to find the site too.

Disliked: due to the great accessibility, it is near to the m4, but if you struggle with ambient traffic noise, take ear phones to sleep, but it was not a problem for me, if anything was like a faint white noise that i barely noticed.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Lovely field with wild flowers. Plenty of space when we stayed there. Good communications and directions. Shower and toilet fine. Proximity to shops and pubs was good. Kenfig nature reserve is well worth a visit.

Disliked: Motorway noise in background but not a problem really.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: We had a great stay at Holistic Concepts in our converted van. The host was so kind and helpful to us, allowing us to lend screwdrivers from her home when we needed assistance with an issue inside the van. We didn’t have any issues with the road being loud as seen in other reviews. The bathroom was impeccably clean and although we didn’t use the shower, it seemed as clean as the bathroom. A great site overall and we would definitely return!

Disliked: Potentially if there were a large number of campers on the site, 1 toilet may cause an issue.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: Spotlessly clean facilities, welcoming and helpful host, walked directly from camp to sker beach, bussed back from porthcawl.

Disliked: I could hear the motorway but it was a faint hum rather than roaring noise, not enough to discourage me from returning.

Local attractions

Head to the coast around Southerndown (15 minutes’ drive) for cliffside walks past the overgrown gardens of the old Dunraven Estate. Fancy a bit of a beach session? A top tip is to take a look at the tides online to figure out when there’ll be sand to sit on. For aquatic activities inland rather than by the sea, navigate your way towards Neath for ‘Waterfall Country’ (half an hour), a cracking section of the southern Brecon Beacons National Park with a satisfying circular walking trail. Gentler strolls more your thing? Add dawdles around the duck pond at Margam Country Park (15 minutes) to the agenda; this landscaped space is also full of playgrounds and a Go Ape treetop adventure centre for active types. And if all that sounds way too energetic? Rifle the racks at the discounted boutiques in the Designer Outlet Bridgend (10 minutes), home to 90 stores with some bargains to be had. It’s also got a cinema for catching the latest blockbuster and plenty of chain restaurants. More shopping and leisure options are in the seaside city of Swansea, half an hour’s drive from the park.
