  • On a working sheep farm close to the Celtic Trail
  • Barbecues, toilets, hot showers and family/disabled room
Have a stay here and you'll surely want to make this place Your Welsh… Our Welsh Caravan and Camping is a peaceful site with high-quality facilities, set in the south Wales valleys near Bridgend, on a working sheep farm surrounded by outstanding scenery. This is a top spot for outdoor adventuring, with easy access to many mountain bike trails as well as the mighty Celtic Trail made up of 377 miles of bike paths around south, west and mid Wales; the nearest stretch is just 300 metres from the site. Hikers have mountain trails nearby over Mynydd Y Gaer or across the Ogmore Vale mountains to tackle, or you could set off on the Taff Ely Ridgeway walk a mile and a half away in Glynogwr. Less actively, Our Welsh is about 20 minutes' drive from Bridgend for shopping and sightseeing, about 45 minutes from Cardiff, and half an hour from the beach at Southerndown. The site is level, at the river's edge on Hendre Ifan Goch Farm. Facilities include toilets, hot showers and a family/disabled room with shower and toilet facilities; there are local produce sales, and barbecues are allowed. Our Welsh is a quiet site, with no noise allowed after 10.30pm.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Clean and friendly. Brilliant placement with it being close to family, 20 minutes from the beach and 10 from subzero

Disliked: Ground okay on top but seemed rocky and too hard underneath the ground. Hard to put in pegs

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you, the ground is hard due to SUD in place we have needed it this year.

Local attractions

Your local section of the Celtic Trail is National Cycle Network Route 4, which passes 300 metres from the park on its lengthy route from London to Fishguard, and taking in the eastern section of the Celtic Trail, from Swansea to Chepstow, Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye. Exploring by foot, it's a mile and a half from the farm to join the Taff Ely Ridgeway Walk through the Ely valley and Taff Vale, starting near Glynogwr and making its way through Llantrisant forest, Llantrisant and Garth Hill – look out from here for splendid views over Cardiff and the Taff valley. The walk then snakes along to Caerphilly Common to finish up among more spectacular scenery from Caerphilly mountain. Going coastwards, Porthcawl is 15 miles or about 25 minutes' drive away for access to sands, surf schools and the Welsh Coast Path, on its huge 870-mile run from Chepstow to Queensferry. Or head to Bridgend to take the interactive Nature Keeper Trail, looking out for 14 digital sculptures highlighting the nature and landscape of this pretty part of Wales.
