Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Friendly welcome and spotless site. Some stunning walks straight from the site. Pitches are spacious and well organised and the ground is excellent . It is exposed to sw winds which are the prevailing ones. Be prepared to deal with wind when pitching and breaking down but great site .

Liked: Loved our stay, the site was clean and tidy, there was plenty of space for games and there was a friendly atmosphere the whole time. The campsite is so close to a secluded beach.

Disliked: The dishwashing area was outside and not very sheltered.

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Very nice well organised site with views of the mountains. The owners are friendly and the toilets / showers (hot!) were nice and clean. We had plenty of space and the field was level. It's a great spot to base yourself in when exploring the peninsula. We didn't try the wifi but they do have it. It was nice and chilled after 10pm and our son had a ton of space to safely run about.

Disliked: It was extremely windy but obviously that's not the owners fault! Maybe not the place if winds are forecast and you're in a tent but otherwise it was lovely.

Powered grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: First time and lovely campsite. Peaceful and quiet. Clean bathrooms and nice showers. I’d go back because of the large field area that kids can play on which was brilliant.

Disliked: Shame you can’t pitch up until 3pm when you have to leave site by 10am (11am on the website though).

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: We stayed here as a base whilst competing in the Abersoch 10k running event. Brilliant, scenic and peaceful location. Retains quite a homely feel with the site divided into several small meadows. There’s nice walks into Abersoch, nearest beach to the campsite is only 15-20 minutes walk away and is superb. It’s also near the Wales costal path and the Cim Circular walk, taking in some nice views. Abersoch is only about 7-8 minutes’ drive away. Nice flat, spacious pitches. Friendly site owners, who keep the site in very good condition. Relatively low-key and relaxed campsite, there’s a small shower & toilet block which is clean and in good order. Play park on site with a playing field also nearby. No shop, although the neighbouring campsite has one and allows visitors. There’s also a Spar mini supermarket a few minutes away in Abersoch. The campsite also have food vans turning up at various points during the week in the season, great option if you don’t want to cook. This was a really nice, friendly campsite in a great location for Abersoch. Family friendly, the owners ask for a 10pm noise curfew and this is monitored. This was very much appreciated for those who were staying for the race and needed a good night’s sleep.

Disliked: To be clear - these aren’t ‘dislikes’ just a couple of observations to be aware about whilst on site. The campsite is towards the top of a hill and can get some breeze. Not a problem just use decent tent pegs and ensure your tent / awning is up properly. Lovely location, be mindful it’s accessed from Abersoch by narrow roads, single track in places, which can also be busy with other holiday traffic, walkers and horse riders. Again, not a problem, just take your time on the nearby roads (and enjoy the scenery!). In fairness if you were just on holiday at Abersoch only, it’s one of those campsites you could just leave the car and walk everywhere should you wish.

Local attractions

In the immediate surrounding area, there's Abersoch Golf Club (10 minutes' drive) if you fancy a game or two with sea views, plus top-rated local beaches for swimming, watersports and picnics like Porth Ceiriad (10 minutes) and Porth Neigwl (10 minutes), the second of which is renowned for its favourable surfing conditions. Many of these can be comfortably reached on foot via the Wales Coast Path. A little further along the peninsula, you'll come to Pwllheli, a harbour town with an attractive marina that's well worth a visit. Heading in the other direction, Criccieth Castle (30 minutes) has turrets and towers that are hard to beat – although Harlech's imposing coastal fortress (an hour) certainly gives it a run for its money. For more family-friendly days out, head to the pretty Italian-style coloured houses and cafés at Portmeirion (30 minutes), or venture out into Snowdonia National Park for mountain peaks, lakeside walks or to experience the zipwires, woodland rollercoasters and other exhilarating rides at Zip World Fforest near Betws-y-Coed (an hour and 15 minutes).
