  • Peaceful rural park in St Asaph
  • Four miles from the beaches and funfairs of Rhyl and Prestatyn
  • Excellently-kept amenities and plenty of tourist info on site
Did you know that - thanks to the Diamond Jubilee of good Queen Lilibet - that UK got three brand new cities in 2012? One of the newbies, St Asaph in Denbighshire, is home to just three thousand people if you’re curious about this tiny gem, come to Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park, where you’ll be perfectly placed to join in any right royal knees-up that might still be going on in St Asaph, and to visit the classic Welsh coastal resorts of Prestatyn and Rhyl. Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park is a peaceful rural site with well-kept pitches and with amenities kept to high standards by the friendly helpful team. There’s a great range of tourist information available on site to help you make the most of the local area. You’ll find a handful of shops, including a convenience store, butcher and chemist in the nearby village of Dyserth (don’t miss out on a stop at the stunning Dyserth waterfalls while you’re there).

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely well kept site. Women’s Toilets and showers were really clean . Vicky was very welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Disliked: Mens toilets were sometimes in need of cleaning and the soap dispenser was always empty. No dog waste bins and not really anywhere to dispose off around the area. Didn’t allow a campfire but not the end of the world. Would still return to this site.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Great site, repeat visitors and this poor review is nothing against the site, its facilities or owners. Everything from a site point of view was great as usual.

Disliked: Illegal road race took place with car hurtling upwards of 60mph yards from our location separated by only a hedge. We left site at 00.40 as a we were fearful if one of these cars lost control and careered through the hedge. Local police confirmed they were aware of this taking place however no presence shown and anyone in the area was at risk due to this. Spoiled an outside expected experience which was not down to the site owners but sadly is something to be mindful of with these events seemingly taking place in the area and known about

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We do really appreciate your repeat returns to site and as you know this rally is not down to the site and feel this is a really unfair review. This rally is an annual organised event, (dates will change each year) rally marshals are out with this rally which happens to pass one hedge row of the park, this can not be helped by us. People on the park were aware about the rally happening and even watched the cars pass by.

Lovely and clean but far to lound of a night.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Very clean toilets, showers, place to wash dishes. The field was also lovely and clean.

Disliked: Other family's playing loud music till near half 11pm. And Ice cream van shows up playing the music at 9pm so not great quench you have little ones and trying to get them to sleep. There was a rally race we were not informed about so there was extremely loud car racing between 12am and 2 am.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Sorry you experienced this during your stay at the park, we do not allow noise after 11pm and if people can inform us of this happening whilst at site, at the time of it happening we can then do something about this. Regarding the ice cream van, we are no longer allowing him on site due to the time that they arrive, we do agree 9pm is a very silly time to arrive. This rally is an annual organised event, (dates will change each year) rally marshals are out with this rally which happens to pass one hedge row of the park, this can not be helped by us. People on the park were aware about the rally happening and even watched the cars pass by.

Local attractions

For families, the safe sandy beaches, funfairs and plentiful tourist attractions of Rhyl and Prestatyn - just four miles away - will no doubt be top of the list. The attractive seaside resorts of Llandudno and Colwyn Bay are also within an easy drive. Fishing fans can try the trout farm ten minutes up the road from Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park, or head into St Asaph to fish the River Elwy; walkers can saunter through a superb selection of scenery, including nearby Offa’s Dyke, or drive to Snowdonia National Park and hike the mountains and lakes; and golfers will also find that this area suits them to a tee, with a huge choice of courses including Caerwys, Meliden, Rhuddlan, Rhyl, Holywell and Prestatyn. Other top picks for sightseeing include the village of Betws-Y-Coed and the neighbouring Swallow Falls; the imposing remains of Rhuddlan Castle; and seventeenth century Bodrhyddan Hall, where a 3,000-year-old mummy lurks among the armour and period furniture...
