Beautiful view from site
Pitches
Lots of space around the pitches

  • Well-maintained site on a farm 10 minutes' drive from Abergele
  • Half an hour's drive from Snowdonia; 10 minutes from the coast
  • Large pitches and smart heated modern bathroom block
Coming to Conwy with a plan to cram in as many castles, country walks and coastal antics as poss, plus a bit of chillout time? A berth at Bryn Ffanigl Ganol Caravan and Camping Park will see you sorted for a bit of both. The views from this fab family-run farm site are full-on north Wales countryside – all hills, woods and green fields – and there’s a generous swathe of space on each pitch for settling in to stare at the scenery. The owners aren't just relying on that outlook to keep guests smiling, however – they’ve put a lot of effort into refining their amenities too, which include a smart modern bathroom block with underfloor heating throughout (no chilly toes here), accessible facilities and a washing-up area. But you haven't come all this way to loaf on site… not when the site is within 30 minutes' drive of the north coast, Snowdonia National Park, a zoo and a clutch of castles (of course – Wales loves a castle). Getting out and about to all of this is a cinch, as Bryn Ffanigl Ganol is a leisurely three miles from the A55 (aka the North Wales Expressway). Even easier is getting out for a walk, as there are plenty of paths in the immediate surrounds (excellent news for dogs needing to stretch their paws). Sort post-stroll snacks with a trip to the supermarket or shops in Abergele, a 10-minute drive away.

Liked: The layout of the site. Very tidy and well kept. Spotless toilets. Well looked after pitches with water abd electrics. Stunning views. Quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed a bbq on our last night which were glad to be able to do. Found the hot water dog shower just as we were leaving. Would definitely have used.

Liked: Everything. Lovely location, views, good toilet/shower block. The man that showed us around was very helpful and friendly.

Disliked: I wouldn’t necessarily call it a dislike but did mention to my partner at the time how i felt a small cafe or something would do very well on the site. :)

Liked: The site is immaculately clean and peaceful. Since we are new to camping, the site manager checked up on us several times and even helped us made the tent. We were able to enjoy a wonderful weekend thanks to other friendly campers, especially the ones in pitch 32, who stay there on a weekly basis. They lent us their wire extension for electricity and a heating plate for cooking as we did not have the right equipments. They invited us over for a chat surrounding their fire pit and even treated us with hot water before we headed off the other day. We truly appreciate their help. Our camping would never be possible without them.

Liked: Lovely friendly site! We stayed on a generously large grass pitch with electric hookup and were a short walk from the shower/toilet block which was always kept very clean. Check in was very easy and the cost of the pitch was excellent value for money. It is in a very quiet peaceful area (which was much appreciated as we live near a main road back at home) and we enjoyed being next to a field of very friendly and curious cows! The site is a short drive to lots of local attractions, we made a trip into Conwy and the Welsh mountain zoo on our trip. We look forward to visiting this site again and are already planning!

Liked: Everything. Gorgeous location surrounded by beautiful views from every pitch. A peaceful and relaxing small site. Toilets and showers where spotless, really welcoming and convenient. Close enough to attractions etc ( 15 mins drive) but you wouldn't know as it feels very remote. Owners are onsite and friendly. Shops 3 miles from site. Will hopefully be back and would definitely recommend.

Liked: The showering facilities were incredibly clean. The site was beautiful and it was lovely that it was on a farm with all the animals in neighbouring fields. The site was close to plenty of neighbouring sea side towns. We had a lovely stay and will definitely return to this site.

Route directions

Using a satnav is not recommended, as they often take you through narrow country lanes. From Abergele town centre, head west towards Llanddulas. At the end of the castle wall, turn left for Rhyd-y-Foel. Go through the village, then take the second lane on the left, signposted for the site. The park entrance is the first turning on the left.

Local attractions

Can't wait for the coast? It's 10 minutes' drive to Abergele’s beach or 15 to get to the sandy stretch at Colwyn Bay. If you like a bit of activity while you're there, there’s a seafront cycle path in Abergele, or you could tackle one of the great walks around the Great Orme headland in Llandudno (20 minutes). A cable car and tramway head to the summit if your legs don't fancy the hike. A short way back from the coast (20 minutes’ drive) is the place to meet all manner of animals at the Welsh Mountain Zoo; a similar length of drive should get you to the National Trust-owned Bodnant Garden to stroll through 80 acres of plants gathered from around the world. If it's castles you're after, tick several off your list with visits to Bodelwyddan (15 minutes), Rhuddlan (20 minutes), Conwy (20 minutes) and Caernarfon (45 minutes). Snowdonia National Park's a splendid place for a day or few too – head to Llanrwst (half an hour) or Betws-y-Coed (35 minutes) for walks, Gwydir Forest Park (50 minutes) for mountain biking or Adventure Parc Snowdonia (half an hour) for gorge walking, paddleboarding and a surfing lake.
