Liked: Small site, owner was very pleasant and showed us round the site. He gave us directions to the local pub and as we walked offered to pick us up if we rang him.

Disliked: Pitches close to road, very small and quite road and no traffic at night. But still by a riad

Liked: Andrew was so friendly and informative - clearly explaining where everything was and also giving good tips about where to visit in Wales. Good flat hard standing. Pretty view onto the fishing lake. Rural spot but easy to find.

Disliked: Prefer a free shower. We'd forgotten change and the showers are on a payment meter.

From the manager: Thanks guys, we always carry plenty of change on site had I known I’d have sorted that for you, next time!

Liked: Brilliant little campsite, owner was was really friendly and helpful. Facilities were kept immaculately clean. Location overlooking his fishing lakes. You can see the evening sun sets from your pitch. Has a quite lane which is ideal for walking the dog. In all has been one of the best sites we have stayed on for some while, we will certainly use again.

Local attractions

After a leisurely time fishing on site, more of the same can be landed at the local pub's section of the Ithon river, via fly fishing at Rhayader or Llyngwyn, or in the Wye from the nearby town of Builth Wells. Other active options easily accessed from here are pony trekking and horse riding, 4x4 experiences, Wye Valley kayaking and hikes around the Elan Valley. Cyclists should also like the hundreds of bikes and loads of cycling bits at the National Cycle Museum in local town Llandrindod Wells. If you're up for events, the Royal Welsh Showground at Llanelwedd near Builth Wells hosts events throughout the year including the Royal Welsh Show in July, the Smallholders' Show in May, the Winter Fayre in December, dog and horse shows, and two antique fairs. You could also have a look at the red kite feeding station at Gigrin Farm, or take to the car for day trips: the Brecon Beacons, Aberystwyth and Hay-on-Wye are all within an hour.
