  • Wild-ish site with sea views and direct access to the coast path
  • A 10-minute coastal walk from Tresaith beach, pub and waterfall
  • Dog-friendly two-acre field with a solar shower; look for wildlife
Itching to stretch your legs along a stunning coastal path, before going sailing, swimming or for a well-deserved pub lunch? Such activities are the norm at Tresaith Camping, a wild-ish site with direct access to the Ceredigion Coast Path. Wild-ish is a good way to describe this place, as although the two-acre field has a solar shower and a composting toilet, it’s without drinking water (so bring your own, please). Part of that preparation may include packing binoculars, as peregrine falcons and dolphins are sometimes spotted from the peaceful pitches. Bring a trusted pair of boots too, as the coast path is a mere 20 metres from the pitches. Trot along for 10 minutes south to Tresaith, where there’s a beach, small shop, pub and waterfall. Along the coast path, it takes 20 minutes to walk to Penbryn, which has a beach, café and restaurant, and around 30-40 minutes to reach Aberporth’s beach, shops, pubs and takeaways. With so many opportunities to gaze over the sea (from your pitch, from the coast path, from a coffee shop…), you may quickly feel that it's high time you were gliding out upon the waves yourself. If so, drive 25 minutes to New Quay to take a boat trip with themes like fishing, dolphin spotting or seal spotting. With steep, uneven paths, Tresaith Camping isn’t suitable for low cars or people with mobility problems.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite (sea view)

Liked: An amazing location, ideal for walkers doing the Welsh Coastal Path and those who love a beach day at nearby Tresaith (where there is a beautiful waterfall, pub and beach shop, and public toilets, with shower and water bottle refill)
Great for campers who like the wild-ish side of things. Compost toilet and shower were clean and what a view !!!
Picnic area was a perfect place to eat whilst watching the sunset.
We only intended to stay one night but ending up booking another night as we loved it here so much.

Disliked: No fresh water tap for drinking water (not an issue for us as we had stocked up)

Local attractions

Quiet beaches, delicious seafood, seaside towns with a good buzz, boat trips… There are plenty of great ways to spend your time in this splendid area. Meaning Little Beach, Traeth Bach (an hour's walk) requires a little exercise to reach along the coastal path, but it's well worth it, as one of the quieter spots for some time on the sand. Let yourself gaze for a while at the views at Llangrannog beach (10 minutes' drive), which is surrounded by fishing boats and cliffs. At low tide, it’s possible to stroll from the village onto Cilborth beach, where the scenery is often replicated by Welsh artists. In New Quay (25 minutes), there’s a lively watersports centre, an annual regatta and three very different beaches to wander around. Families can go for a dip in the designated swimming area at Harbour Beach if they fancy getting their feet wet. Finally, a trip to Aberaeron (25 minutes) for some seafood like sea bass and shrimp or yet more walks along the coast (or for a shorter stroll around the harbour?). It’s near Llanerchaeron (half an hour), an 18th-century villa with a lake, a working farm and gorgeous walks in the Aeron Valley.
