  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views over Cardigan Bay
  • A 35-minute walk from New Quay; footpath to the Wales Coast Path
  • Shops and pubs in New Quay; playground and dog exercise area on site
Raring to go dolphin-spotting on the Wales Coast Path or fishing on a boat trip from New Quay? Very well – here’s Tyr Ffynnon Farm, an advantageous base for such coastal adventures. With 180-degree views over Cardigan Bay and a location just 35 minutes’ walk from New Quay, it would have been a shame to keep this quiet 38-acre working sheep farm for sheep only. Now, families and dogs (on leads) are welcome to come and relax at the elevated peninsular spot. There are plenty of walking areas away from the traffic – and just a couple of hundred metres from the entrance, there’s a public footpath where guests can join the Wales Coast Path. Spectacular views and the chance to spot dolphins… yes please. The coastal path passes through lively New Quay, where activities such as boat trips, sailing, fishing and watersports are on the agenda. Also called Cei Newydd, New Quay has a pretty harbour, sandy beaches and a sound selection of shops, pubs and restaurants for all your foodie desires. The pièce de resistance at Tyr Ffynnon Farm surely has to be the sublime sea-view sunsets that can be seen from the site. Other ace features include the modern shower and toilet facilities, which have hot electric showers, wash basins, toilets, electric hand dryers and electric sockets for hairdryers (in the ladies’ only) and a shaver point (in the gents’). Those with mini family members will also be pleased to find a playground and a fenced dog exercise area on site. Bonus points – the peaceful, friendly site is 20 minutes’ drive from Aberaeron, 35 minutes from Cardigan and 45 minutes from Aberystwyth.

Liked Absolutely beautiful site. Owner was very helpful. We didnt venture far enjoyed the sunshine on site. Was quite windy so grown adults playing with a kite was thing to do.

Toilets very very clean and well maintained.

Showers you have to pay for £1 for 10 mins and they are lovely can get quite slippy though so be careful

There also utility to wash your pots

Liked Great location, lovely views. Friendly welcome. Facilities clean.

Disliked No hot water for washing up or washing hands in toilet block. I did report this but same thing next day. £1 charge for shower which I don't mind as it was clear up front when booking but the water pressure is low so you don't get a decent shower for the extra charge.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Lovely welcome text day of arrival with clear and precise instructions which was very helpful. Very child and animal friendly. Toilet’s and shower area was immaculate with constant supply of toilet roll and hand soap. Washing up area was clean and tidy. Very accommodating when we kindly requested to move plots due to us wanting an electric plot instead of non electric which was our preference and the owners were prompt in helping us!
We would highly recommend here and would book again as our first ever experience in camping we felt at ease.

Plus there are a lot of fantastic views.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Liked The site was amazing, it was peaceful, clean and the facilities were beautiful! Staff were friendly on arrival and checked in the following day too. I noticed a number of people stating the drive up is too long, its about 2 minutes from the main road. It wasn’t as bad as others say!

We had to unfortunately leave early fue to the weather. We stayed in storms before but this time it was worse. But in the time we were there, I could not name a single fault! We would definitely visit again when there is sun!

Liked One of the best sites we have been to in Wales and will be returning at some point in the future. Clean toilet and shower block. We did get mobile internet suitable for watching Netflix/Prime but not at full speed.

Stunning views across Cardigan Bay, especially if you get a pitch at the top of the field. Very short drive into New Quay to go on a dolphin/seal spotting boat ride and there's supermarkets within half hour down to Cardigan or 40 min up to Aberyswyth.
Cei Bach Beach is 10 min drive away to give the dog(s) a good run and swim in the sea.

Every day we had a stunning sunrise and sunset and at night the sky was dark enough to just see the milky way. (If astrophotography is your thing, you'll love it here!)
We were also able to book an extra night at very short notice and could pick our own pitch when we arrived.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.
Just be aware that access is via a half mile single track lane from the A486 so take your time and the field is a gentle slope so levelling will be required.

Local attractions

Days out in Aberaeron (20 minutes’ drive) – a regency town with a Georgian harbour and multi-coloured houses – could be spent taking yet more coastal walks, tucking into tapas and scallops around the harbour or licking a honey-flavoured ice cream by the sea. Strolls or fishing along the river Teifi might make it onto your itinerary in Cardigan (35 minutes). The town’s castle is on the riverside and has its own escape room. Another historical spot is in St Dogmaels (40 minutes), where there are abbey ruins with medieval roots. Aberystwyth (45 minutes) is much more than a university town. It’s also home to the National Library of Wales, a free museum and heaps of interesting shops. Elsewhere along the coast, Penbryn beach (25 minutes) is accessed through woodlands from the Wales Coast Path. A short detour from here will get you to Tresaith Waterfall (25 minutes).
