  • On a scenic headland with sea views, 10 minutes' drive from Mwnt beach
  • Adventure playground, visitor centre, café and animals to meet
If you'd like to go nature spotting in Wales, consider Cardigan Bay and the nature reserve Cardigan Island. And if you'd like to stay in the Cardigan Island vicinity, go to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, a site adjacent to the popular and family-run farm park of the same name, set on a scenic headland with views of Cardigan Island and the dolphins below. Cardigan Island, 200 yards offshore and visible from the site, has thousands of nesting seabirds to see, a flock of wild Soay sheep (originally from the Scottish Isle of Soay, south of Skye) and a colony of grey Atlantic seals breeding in the many caves below the farm park cliffs (you should be able to see them every day of your stay – a real treat for the kids). The bay's bottlenose dolphins also frequent these waters, particularly on calm days when they swim closer to the shore and can be seen from the farm park. On site, there's a variety of friendly animals to meet including pigs, sheep, goats, rare-breed cattle, ponies, chickens, rabbits, ducks, geese and a donkey, and a llama, emu and wallaby representing non-natives. There's also an adventure playground and sandpit for the kids, and a large visitor centre (open daily from 10am to 6pm) with a café, gift shop and plenty of play equipment. The campsite part of the park is on a gentle slope with spectacular views over the farm park and out to sea, and has showers, toilets and dishwashing facilities on site. Other toilets and a baby changing area are in the visitor centre when it's open. And yet another cracking thing about staying at this Cardigan Island campsite? Entrance to the farm park is free for guests.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Location, scenery, farm and food. Quiet nice location away from it all. Clean facilities. Toilets, showers and washing up room. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Although field on slight slant. So we moved our tent beds accordingly. Added bonus from the farm with the animals waiting to be fed. This is free to people staying on the farm. Laughs from adults and children with their antics! Seen lots of seals along the coastal walk which is well signposted. Seals who were more than happy to entertain the audience. Due to the weather we couldn’t cook near our tent so had a couple of nice breakfast’s to set us up for the day. Although food was hot and freshly cooked, I would have thought proper farm sausages and bacon would have been used. However, sausages tasted like Asdas own frozen sausages. One size breakfast, the men couldn’t have larger. £11. So definitely pricey for what you get. All Staff were nice and approachable.

Disliked: Weather. Being on top of a cliff we unfortunately had some very windy weather yet when we went into cardigan and new-quay and it wasn’t all that windy at all. Washing up room was hit & miss with hot water.

Liked: Stunning views of Cardigan Island and Poppit Sands. Loved the access to the farm park and coastal walk where you could see seals. Good clean showering facilities and washing area. Close to Cardigan and amenities. Helpful owners😀

Disliked: Wi-Fi only available in the centre building and mobile data connection was sporadic on camp site due to location.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Brilliant park for the children to play and ease of access was great, along with access to the coastal path and seeing the lovely animals in the farm park. Lovely coffee shop inside the farm park and the little area for children to play inside also. The shop had some great gifts available. Toilets and showers were clean and in a good condition.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Amazing views, very peaceful campsite. The layout of the pitches leaves a huge green area in the middle so very safe for kids to play. Only two toilets and showers but didn't ever seem too busy, only had to wait a few minutes for a shower once. Access to the farm park was an fantastic feature, our children loved playing in the park and we spent one morning feeding the animals and walking along the cliffs and saw lots of seals! Easy access to the Wales coast path just up the road from the site if you are a walker.

Disliked: Would be great if the cafe and visitor centre could also sell some milk and basics as we ran out during our stay and had to drive 10 minutes to Cardigan. This is only a small point in what was otherwise a brilliant weekend, we would be more prepared next time!

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The peacefulness and beautiful location. Has facilities for camping with an electric hook-up along with a toilet/shower block and a washing-up area.

Disliked: The site is not secure, especially when was the only camper on site. Limited mobile/data signal (obviously not the campsite's fault).
