  • Basic site on the Gartmore Estate in the Trossachs National Park
  • A 15-minute drive from Loch Ard and half an hour from Sitrling
  • Village shop and pub serving food 10 minutes’ walk away
Meandering over to the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park to go rock climbing, mountain biking or swimming and paddling around lochs? Whether you’re keen on walking, cycling, watersports or history, you’ll be pretty spoilt for choice from Gartmore Estate Campsite. A 15-minute drive from Loch Ard and in the national park, there are miles of forest and quiet roads around for walking, cycling and off-road biking. As for your new abode, you’ll be setting up base in the grounds of the 18th-century Gartmore House on the 100-acre Gartmore Estate. There are basic off-grid facilities here, including a cold water tap in the field and showers and toilets a few minutes’ walk away from the pitches. Keep an eye out for wildlife as you stroll: guests often spot red squirrels, deer and hedgehogs around here. To save you a little walk, when you arrive, you’ll be able to offload your tent a few minutes from the side of the field before parking your car in a small area at the bottom of the field or an overspill car park (both a few minutes’ walk away.). Gartmore village, 10 minutes’ walk away may be small, but it's a mighty place for a snack or small meal, thanks to its well-stocked village shop and a pub serving some tasty grub and drinks. Otherwise, for a larger selection of food and drink supplies and more eateries and bars, Aberfoyle is an hour’s walk away or 10 minutes in the car.
