FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: A quiet site ideal for exploring the local area. Friendly owners who are always there to help. Although the site is next to the main road, it does not impede on the peace and tranquil site. An added bonus is that the water tap and waste water disposal is next to your pitch

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely big flat pitches. Facilities block lovely and clean and warm. We were grateful to have been able to book this site very last minute after midges stopped play on our wild camping plans.

Disliked: Right next to a main road so the traffic is very audible. We also had an issue with one of our dogs and the free range chickens. The dog has never seen chickens before and these are quite brave being situated right behind the motorhome and tent pitches, it made for quite a stressful environment as even though the dogs were tethered you literally couldn’t take your eyes off them if the chickens were about. Also the cockerel fires up as soon as the sun rises. The bin trucks arrival just after 7am.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Clean loos & showers. Site very well maintained. Owner lovely and helpful. Close to amenities and the sights. Reasonably priced. Free WiFi.

Disliked: Hard-standing pitches next to a busy main road (although quieter at night) and roaming chickens make the site less peaceful. There isn’t much grass (for anyone with a tent).

Liked: Very neat, tidy and friendly site. Nice facilities and beautiful location along the river. Near the road but the noise didn't bother us.

Disliked: Would like to see a MH services point to drain tanks if one doesn't have a waste pipe to use.

Local attractions

Wander along the River Teviot, go nature spotting, or hire a bike from the Riverside team for Borders days close to the park; much more of the outdoorsy same is at spectacular Kielder Forest over the border in Northumberland 45 minutes' drive south. Scottish Borders town days are plentiful around here too, with Hawick under 10 minutes' drive from the park, Jedburgh 15 and Kelso 20. Half an hour away, Selkirk is where William Wallace was famously declared guardian of Scotland; three miles from there, have an afternoon at Bowhill House for more woodland walks and dramatic antics from its on-site theatre. Swimming pools and a soft play centre are at Teviotdale Leisure Centre, five minutes' drive away.
