- Sustainable, eco and dog-friendly site with a range of accommodation
- Among spectacular scenery to the south of Cairngorms National Park
- Llama trekking; heated amenities; bothy with kitchen, toys and books
Llama trekking, award winning and even dog renting (yes really)… it’s little wonder that Scottish glampsite Ecocamp Glenshee is rather well known around the land. Media types – who generally know a newsworthy thing or two when they see it – have happily covered this spectacular Perthshire place and its green setting, excellent accommodation and quite a bit more; yes, this is where you pause and peruse the site pics.
Ecocamp Glenshee has been a sustainable glamping site for almost a decade, visited by guests who want a peaceful and laidback place and a base for outdoor adventures. It’s 25 minutes' drive from Blairgowrie, on the southern edge of the spectacularly scenic Cairngorms National Park, and just under the slopes of Mount Blair with views across to the peak of Schiehallion.
You can be out and about all day long around this part of Scotland… think hill walking or trail running, rock climbing or mountain biking, wild swimming, canoeing and kayking and hikes through forests and around lochs. And that’s just in the warmer months… when it’s colder, Glenshee Ski Centre is 20 minutes’ drive north for snowboarding, cross-country skiing and downhill and touring skiing.
Amenities are excellent: the shower and toilet blocks are heated and insulated with unlimited and free hot water, and communal space The Bothy has seating, sofas, toys, local info, a library, a woodburning stove, charging points and a fully-equipped kitchen. Pick up supplies at the award-winning shop 10 minutes’ drive away, or buy sausages, bacon, burgers, baps and homemade scones and cakes from the Ecocamp Glenshee team.
And if you want to bring the dog? Ecocamp Glenshee not only welcomes dogs, it welcomes them with their own bed, a homemade dog treat and – your dog will get getting ideas – personalised food bowls; just let the team know the name of your dog when you book.
And if you don’t have a dog? Guests can ‘rent’ resident canines Smudge and Mousa, for walkies around the local wilderness and heather moorland.
