  • Peaceful pet-friendly Highlands holiday park with mountain views
  • Loch Ness 20 minutes’ walk and Urquhart Castle 20 minutes’ drive
  • Adults-only (12+) and dog-friendly; access to the Great Glen Way
Put your gears into motion, as the Forest Glen Holiday Park has a splendid Highlands getaway in store. This peaceful holiday park for adults (which counts anyone aged 12 or over) has mountain views and easy access to local forest walks and the Great Glen Way. It’s pet-friendly too, meaning your canines won’t have to miss out on any Highlands adventures. The scenic motorhome stopover pitches are part of a family-run holiday park, peacefully set above the river Moriston waterfalls. At the entrance to Glenmoriston, it’s in a gorgeous Highland glen, right alongside the Great Glen way and the Loch Ness 360. So, check out the local wildlife, bike or hike and get out over craggy forested hills and winding pasturelands… If you’re interested in doing as well as seeing, there are cruises and fishing trips on Loch Ness (which is under a mile away along the river Moriston, a route which goes past waterfalls, rapids and the old bridge reportedly built by Thomas Telford). Further afield, look out for dolphins on the Moray Firth (around an hour), Nessie on Loch Ness and historical sites like Urquhart Castle (20 minutes) or Culloden Moor (an hour). Whatever you get up to, Forest Glen Holiday Park is in a peaceful spot with spectacular mountain scenery. It’s a handy spot too, as the village of Invermoriston is five minutes’ walk away and has a café and independent shops.

Primitive grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Secluded and clean campsite.
Was very quiet and peaceful
Was easy to find and easy to access.

Disliked Not able to speak to anyone on arrival apart from calling owners on their mobile, but this could just have been because we arrived midafternoon.
Although we did not use it, the black waste seemed quite difficult.

Primitive grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked What a little gem of a find. Perfect for unwinding on the way round Scotland. Lovely walks right from the campsite, pub few mins walk away, waterfalls and the bus takes you into Fort Augustus in 15 mins. Booked 2 nights but stayed 3 as we loved it so much. Owner is so lovely & kind thank you .

Disliked Nothing it’s perfect for motorhomes if you are self sufficient.

Primitive grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked An unspoilt campsite within the beautiful countryside along The Great Glen Way and The Caledonia Way in the stunning Scottish countryside. It’s so lovely to find a gem like this which has not been ruined by tourism. The site is well spaced out with good flat hard standing pitches with picnic benches. Local amenities a short 5 minute walk plus access to the infamous bike, walking trails and walk to waterfall. It’s a shame people wizz pass and don’t take time to ponder more along this part of Scotland it’s idyllic

Primitive grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Local attractions

If you’re keen to get a glimpse of Nessie, stroll down to Loch Ness along the River Moriston (20 minutes’ walk); you’ll pass waterfalls and a stone bridge reportedly built by Thomas Telford along the way. If the elusive monster doesn’t put in an appearance, you can learn more about him in interactive exhibitions at The Loch Ness Centre (25 minutes’ drive). Head for Fort Augustus (10 minutes) at the southern end of the loch for scenic cruises over the waters, and linger awhile in this pretty town bisected by the Caledonian Canal. There are waterside walks along a section of the Great Glen Way and a choice of shops selling tartan souvenirs. Tour the rugged ruins of Urquhart Castle (20 minutes), standing above the loch and site of much former fighting between the Scots and the English, or pay your respects to the dead at Culloden Battlefield (an hour). If history’s not for you, take the binoculars and see if you can spot dolphins in the Moray Firth (around an hour); they come inshore to feed on the tide.
