Pitches

  • Peaceful site at a fishery in the Berwickshire village of Gordon
  • Kelso 15 minutes' drive away; 20 minutes to Melrose or Scott's View
  • Access to lake stocked with carp, perch, trout, eels and other species
Fancy making fishing the main focus of your Berwickshire break? You’ll be in good company at Lochside Holiday Park, a peaceful site with its own fishery right there next to the pitches. It’s easy to while away many an hour by the loch here, as the waters are stocked with a range of species including carp, bream, brown trout, perch, tench, roach, crucian and eels. There’s a catch-and-release policy in place to preserve stock levels, so although barbecues are permitted on site you’ll need to bring your own supplies to cook. Campfires are allowed as well, but there may be restrictions on both in hot and dry weather. The pitches at this park are fairly simple in style, so you’ll have access to portable toilets but please note there are no showers on site. Dogs and kids are welcome, although you will of course have to keep an eye on them around the water. This is a rural spot, but one that’s easily accessed from two A roads a couple of minutes’ drive away. The little village of Gordon (10 minutes’ walk away) has a café-bar and there are shops and places to eat 15 minutes’ drive away in Kelso and several of the surrounding small towns and villages. Not so keen on fishing? No problem – there are lots of lovely long walks to do nearby, plus castles, gardens, distilleries and historic estates to visit.

What customers say

This site offers a stunning, peaceful location with beautiful views, ideal for families and fishing. Campsites are generally level and well-kept, and guests praise the friendly, helpful owners. While some found the facilities basic, with only a spotless portable toilet and limited waste disposal, many appreciated the 'wild camping' ethos and reasonable pricing. Future plans for expansion are noted positively.

Primitive grass and gravel tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Our family had our first camping experience today, and it was fantastic!
The staff were excellent — they checked in on us regularly and made us feel very welcome. They were also incredibly understanding and supportive when we had an issue with our car tyre. We really appreciated their kindness and help. Thank you for making our first camping trip such a positive experience!

Primitive grass and gravel tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Quiet location, well-kept pitches, lovely surroundings, reasonably priced.

Disliked Very hard and stony ground on our pitch, really struggled to get tent up.

Very basic facilities- just a bin that was full when I arrived and a porta-loo. If they had a washing up sink and a bigger bin I’d probably return.

Primitive grass and gravel tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Small site with basic facilities, as close to wild camping as possible on a campsite. Spacious pitches with seating and a fire pit. The onsite fishery is a great way to relax. The owners are friendly and have great plans for the site's expansion that will complement the facilities and add communal space.
