  • Quiet rural site on the Cowal peninsula 30 minutes from Dunoon
  • With spectacular views and next to mature woodland
  • Food/art trails, laundry area and playground on site
Off to Argyll and the Isles? Stay amidst it all in a rural location at Glendaruel Caravan Park on the Cowal peninsula. Less than two hours from Glasgow and about 30 minutes' drive from Dunoon, Glendaruel is in a splendid setting to use as a base around Argyll's coast and islands: beaches, forest walks, gardens and historic attractions are all within reach and the site is surrounded by hills and farmland, ancient woodland and a wealth of wildlife. (A trip to Loch Fyne Oyster Bar is highly recommended too.) Glendaruel has cleanly-kept toilets and showers, a playground, food and art trails and a laundry area.

Alder camping pod (no pets)

Liked: Very beautiful location, with so many walking paths and a small waterfall behind the site. The owner is really friendly and helpful. Located around mountains and forests. Near to so many Lochs and around a 30-minute drive to Dunoon. I booked a log cabin but because of the yellow warning weather, she upgraded into the caravan and is so clean, has so much space, good decent size two bathroom. Overall we enjoyed and will visit again

Route directions

Warning: If you are using a satnav, do not turn off the A886 onto the West Glendaruel Road. The main entrance to the park is located off the A886: satnav postcode PA22 3AE brings you to the correct park entrance. By ferry: Leave Glasgow on the M8 and continue on the A8 to Greenock. At Greenock take the A770 and take the Western Ferries from McInroy’s Point (Gourock) to Hunter’s Quay (Dunoon). After leaving the ferry turn right and follow coastal route to a T-Junction. Turn right onto the A815, then take the left turn onto the B836. At the end of this road turn right at the T-Junction onto the A886. The park entrance is approximately 4 miles ahead on the left. Note: If you are towing a caravan by the ferry route, the B836 road is not recommended. From the above, simply continue on the A815 to Strachur. Turn left onto the A886 and the park lies 13 miles south on the right. From Kintyre: Take the CalMac ferry from Tarbert to Portavadie. Leave the ferry and drive to the crossroads at Millhouse. Continue straight ahead following the B8000 to Tighnabruaich. Continue on the road past Kames post office and down the hill. Turn left onto the A8003 towards Colintraive. Arriving at the junction with the A886 turn left towards Glendaruel. The park entrance is approximately 3 miles ahead on the left. Local public transport: There is a bus route which passes the park entrance and you should search for times between Dunoon and Duiletter (the driver will drop you at the park entrance).
