What customers say

A charmingly quirky site, highly recommended by animal lovers for its well-cared-for rescue animals. Praised for play areas, clean facilities & welcoming owners. Some noted close pitches & noise; others, limited fresh water & sink guidance. Early roosters may disturb light sleepers.

Primitive cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked The fantastic scenery. Quiet rural location.
The onsite rescue farm with a variety of animals that do make noise, especially the cockerel's!!
Fantastic toilets and showers. Clean and stocked.
The camping area is actually the farms public car park and you walk through the animals to the toilets.
Had to call but he was a Very friendly man.

Disliked The signage to the camping area and we had to call when we arrived to ask where to park.

Primitive cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Loved the farm and waking up beside all the animals.
Loved the kids play area outside and inside.
Loved the cafe area and the coffee was lovely!

Disliked Would like to see the facilities built a bit more; proper wash up area separate from toilets and showers.

Primitive cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked It was a peaceful location.

Disliked The showers were cold, and the washing up was in the toilet shower room. It would have been better to put a sink outside back to back with the toilet sink.

Primitive cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Loved the ethos, countryside, animals, coffee/carrot cake and the owners who were really helpful/kind.

Disliked I didn’t dislike anything but maybe it would be useful to have a sign in the bathroom to say what the sink can and can’t be used for! People were using it for handwashing/ washing pots and cleaning their cassette toilet.

Primitive cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Great vibe and ethos. Lovely quirky site. Animals all happy and well looked after.

Disliked Nowhere to fill fresh water or empty dirty water. Wasn’t mentioned on booking but we thought this would be a minimum requirement to at least have fresh water to fill our camper tank.

Local attractions

Kinsale (15 minutes’ drive) has two 17th-century forts to gawp at, but it’s also worth taking note that foodies flock to this town for fresh seafood like mussels and oysters, as well as traditional pubs and meats aged in whiskey casks. Arriving with an empty stomach should be a wise decision. Clonakilty (half an hour) is a particularly cool and lively town, with its colourful shops, historic buildings, large distillery and – just a short drive away – the West Cork Model Railway Village. Ireland's second largest city, Cork (40 minutes), of course, has lots going on too, from museums and castles to well-regarded restaurants and bars. If you're heading in the direction of Cork, you might want to pop over to Blarney Castle and Gardens (45 minutes), a grand old medieval building with a Poison Garden. Kids should very much appreciate a trip to Fota Wildlife Park (45 minutes) to see the animals, which are both little and big, with gibbons, capybaras, lions and cheetahs among their ranks.
