Open all year around and making a fantastic base for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way, Loop Head Peninsula and the West Clare coastline, the motorhome pitches at Kilrush Marina in County Clare are also a convenient overnight stop for travelling between Killimer and Tarbert on the car ferry across the Shannon Estuary.
Offering views of the yacht harbour and the sheltered waters of Kilrush Creek, facilities on site at the marina include loos and showers, recycling, and electric hookups, as well as 24-hour security cameras and free wifi, so you can keep in touch with home.
The pitches are a short walking distance (five minutes) into the town of Kilrush, where you can pick up essentials from supermarkets as well as a scattering of souvenir stores. If you’re firmly not cooking on your holiday, you’ll find a selection of takeaways, restaurants and cafés, as well as lively pubs where there is often live music at the weekends.

Local attractions
The summer season offers a choice of days out on the sea, from looking for dolphins on Dolphin Discovery cruises to trips out to Scattery Island to tour the landmark lighthouse. For more high-octane adventures, take high-speed West Coast Ribs (all five minutes’ walk) right out into the Atlantic waters.
Back on dry land, if you’re travelling with kids, they can burn off energy on the inflatable, floating climbing courses at West Coast Aqua Park (five minutes) or jump around on climbing frames at dolphin-themed Cappa PlayGround (20 minutes). Kilrush Forest Recreational Area (five minutes’ drive) has plenty of wooded trails and nature walks to keep kids occupied too.
Vandeleur Walled Gardens (five minutes) offers a potter through landscaped parkland, and if you’re following the Wild Atlantic Way route along the West Clare coastline, how about stopping off at the Cliff Walk Kilkee (20 minutes) or driving right to the ocean on Loop Head Peninsula (40 minutes)?
