Liked: Site was clean and no litter on pitches/bushes etc, staff welcoming on arrival, we were put together with friends which was an added bonus in a quiet location of the park great grass area for the children to play on. Staff were very helpful and welcoming, site was peaceful and calming loved the water fall and fountain they were very calming, two shower and toilet blocks local to us on each side of the pitches which were kept swept and maintained with clean toilets and paper throughout our stay. Play area for the children made our stay easier with younger ones, as was the goats! Bar was calming with the fire and sound of the water feature. Early morning geese were walking around the lake with their babies which was adorable . I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely book again with the family, close to home but feel as if you are in a different place, even for some down time to relax with friends. I just found it very tranquil, will most definitely be booking to return when the weather picks up as we had a bit of a wet weekend as we stayed in a tent. Thank you team, great job.

Disliked: The one thing I would negatively comment about was the pizzas. They were hard tasted like cheap shop bought frozen pizzas with extra toppings added on rather than fresh dough pizzas they were put it a pizza oven but the bottom was like cardboard, we bought 6 all together, they were small and most definitely not what we expected. Some needed to be cooked for longer as they were a bit watery on the top and cold. Also a huge shame you can’t buy day passes for the leisure centre the site. Would be lovely to have been able to pop in for a swim. It would also be nice to smell a bit of bleach or fresh cleaner in the toilets/shower floors. Just to freshen it up

Liked: I’m an active Nan that stayed in an electric hook up camping pitch with her 6 year old grandson. I found the staff so chilled and friendly on arrival. The fields are lovely lush grass and very spread out. Toilets/ showers are spread out and kept very clean with ample hot water. Lovely little outdoor bar that overlooks the children’s play area. Security is amazing and a code is required to exit with a car 👍🏻 As a solo woman I really did appreciate this. This site, is by far one of the nicest places I have been to. Beautiful part of England and will definitely be returning.

Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: Good location for visiting the area.

Disliked: Pitches were not level and approach to the pitch was very uneven. Showers and washing up water was tepid at best. Shower cubicles and toilets in need of updating. Electrical switch in shower room is rather worrying.

Local attractions

The Westbury White Horse – Wiltshire's famed giant chalk horse carved into the slope of Salisbury Plain – is a 35-minute drive from Blackland Lakes, on the edge of Bratton Downs. Standing 80 feet tall and 170 feet wide, it's viewable for 16 or 17 miles around its setting; from the horse itself, you'll be able to see Bratton Castle and the white horses of Devizes and Alton Barnes. This is most certainly a land of archaeological and world-famed historical highlights: reach the pretty village of Avebury and its three prehistoric stone circles within 10 minutes' drive and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stonehenge within 40. If your tastes are more modern, a vintage motor museum is less than 10 minutes' walk away. Take a trip out to any of the area's market towns such as Calne, Devizes, Chippenham, Corsham, Royal Wootton Bassett and Marlborough, all within 25 minutes' drive. Bath is about 35 minutes away. For peaceful sightseeing within a short drive, try Bowood House and its landscaped gardens, five miles away, and the National Trust village of Lacock eight miles from the site, a magical place that's had screen appearances in the likes of Downton Abbey and Harry Potter.
