What customers say

This friendly, relaxed campground offers spacious, well-kept sites, many in an apple orchard. Guests love the spotless facilities, canal walks, and nearby pubs. Roaming peacocks are a hit! While some note road noise and desire facility updates, it's a good value, peaceful spot overall.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The whole feel. It's a simple campsite but the orchard feel is lovely. Yes there are fallen apples on the floor but they can be moved or played with by the children. There is a small soft play which was great entertainment. There are simple toilets, warm showers and washing facilities. The peacocks are great and wander close to you. Yes they sometimes make a noise but they live here. The cider tastes great, there is a clear sign at the checking in stop saying scrumpy is available and there are three different sizes to choose from. We enjoyed our stay and will see you again next year on our way back to Newquay, ideal stop off along the long drive.

Disliked No, the site is simple and as described

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We love staying on your site! It’s always clean and tidy, lots of friendly faces! The facilities are always well kept, stocked up with tissue etc and cleaned multiple times during the day, plenty of washing up areas and drinking water supplied. Loved seeing the props around the site and hearing the apples fall from the tree.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Can't think of anything sadly..oo Peacocks were lovely.

Disliked Not a friendly welcome by the lady, no smiles.
Placed in the top right orchard, right next to a very busy noisey road all night.
Two porta loo type toilets near the area where the sinks leaked.
Place needs updating and booking in area needs decluterring.
Not sure where the cider came into things, didn't see any for sale, nor was it promoted.

Liked It was lovely to be camping amongst the apple trees, facilities were clean, pitches large. It was great to be so near to a walk along the canal and there was a great looking pub nearby although we didn’t get to try it out. Friendly owner, lovely cider for sale onsite.

Local attractions

The shops and restaurants of historic town Taunton are a short drive from Tanpits Cider Farm Caravan and Camping Park, also easily reachable via bike or feet via the towpath of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal. Have a wander in town around Vivary Park, once a medieval fish farm and now a place of tennis courts, miniature golf, playgrounds, model railway track and two playgrounds. Taunton's also famed for its flowers (the Taunton Flower Show's nickname is 'the Chelsea of the west'); if this suits your green-fingered tastes, Vivary Park also has over 55,000 spring and summer plants, and a rose garden that includes the Royal National Rose Society's Provincial Trial Ground. Other nearby places of interest and activity are the West Somerset Railway near Bishops Lydeard seven miles away, Clarks Village (20 miles) and Minehead, within 30 miles. The walks and mountain bike rides of the Quantock Hills are also a popular pick.
