The Cross Keys Inn
View prices & book- Touring pitches next to a family pub in Lydford-on-Fosse, Somerset
- A 25-minute drive to Glastonbury, half an hour to Wookey Hole Caves
- Pub serves lunch and dinner and hosts live-music events
Campground type
- The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
- No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
- Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.
- Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
- This is a quiet park: no music is allowed.
- Although this is now an over-18 site, there may be a chance of under-18 guests due to historical bookings which are being honoured. Live music events are occasionally hosted in the Cross Keys function room, which opens out onto the beer garden. The campsite is a short distance from the pub so there may be more noise than usual during these times, but staff are more than happy to allocate a quieter pitch for you during events if you request it. The kitchen is open every day for lunch and dinner. Booking is recommended.

Liked: The site is on a crossroads just off the A37 about 8 miles from Shepton Mallet and 13 miles from Yeovil. There is a lot of greenery and bushes around the actual site and the Cross Keys does seem to have a decent menu. There are unlimited hot showers, although a £20 deposit is required for the key. The toilet block itself is clean.
Disliked: The pitches are marked with 4 foot poles stuck in the ground which are rather unsightly as is the wire that goes across the field to seperate pitches. There is not a water tap on the field, there looks to have been one at some point. Pitches 1-4 have some road noise from the A37. The cdp lid does not stay open (fair enough) so you have to hold it whilst trying to empty your toilet.

Liked: Nice small flat site, toilet and showers included, EHU on all pitches, great pub with excellent service and food, what more do you want😄
Disliked: Shower pressure not the best and grey water discharge drain hard to drive over due to fence panel.

Liked: The campsite was very quiet and peaceful being adults only. Nice level pitches and facilities clean and well kept. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Cross Keys pub serves excellent beer and food and staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy access to Glastonbury and lots of other local attractions and museums. Easy to get to as just off the A303.
Disliked: Auto lights in the ladies went off far too quickly as I was always left in the dark halfway through my shower! Grass on the campsite could do with being kept shorter.

From the manager: Hi, I'm sorry to hear the lights when off too early in the cubicle. On investigation I see someone had turned the timer down so easily rectified but obviously not during your stay. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay.
pitches were a nice water at the pitch would be a nice. Pleasant stay.

Liked: The space and quietness.
Disliked: Check in wasn't very welcoming. Shower block lights are on a motion sensor which didn't pick up motion in the shower so I had to finish my shower in the dark. No water supply to pitches. Facilities were not enough for the amount of pitches, 2 showers and 2 toilets isn't enough for 28 pitches, we were queueing for loos when it was even half full. States prompt check out at 11am but the warden was nowhere to be found to refund our £20 toilet key deposit which left a stream of confused people walking down to the main pub building.

Liked: Nice and simple. Good sized, fairly level pitch backing on to a friendly, well stocked pub with friendly, helpful staff. This is our first stop as motor homers and Tom was super helpful with pointers on set up and also local walks etc. oh, and the pub does a great Sunday roast.
