  • Family-friendly site in a rural spot three miles from Frome
  • A 15-minute drive from Longleat House and Longleat Safari Park
  • Firepits and games room on site
Set on a Somerset break? It's a crafty move to grab a spot at The Den and Orchard, a family-friendly site on the edge of Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It just so happens that there are plenty of walks nearby, as well as other days out in the local area including fishing, mountain biking, visits to National Trust properties and the excellent Longleat Safari Park. Firepits are positioned on every pitch for a laidback evening of cooking and flame gazing. The appointed chef can acquire essentials at the supermarkets in Frome, three miles away. If you'd rather let someone else do the honours, it's possible to order local food delivery from your phone or take a short five-minute drive to local food outlets. Facilities on site include a washing-up area and a wooden toilet block with gents’ and ladies’ toilets and showers. A games room (with darts, table football and table tennis) is on hand too, for damp evenings and general entertainment. Being just under half a mile from an A road, you may hear some road noise at rush hour or if the wind is blowing in the site's direction. Just outside of Frome, it's a bit noisier here than at a fully rural site, but it's very handy for getting around and also for ordering from takeaways in Frome or quickly picking up supplies in town.

A small, spotless site with welcoming owners. Families love the showers & games room. Level pitches, good amenities, and secure gated access. Close to Longleat. Some found pitches a bit close and noted road noise.

Crabby Apple cabin

Liked Fantastic, small and very well equipped campsite. The cabin was great too, had all the kitchen utilities and gas and camping stove. Chairs outside and table such a bonus. Washing facilities clean and cool design.

Disliked Can hear the road a bit at night. Water in the tap very hot!

Power optional grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked Everything about staying here.We have been 3/4 times as the grand children love it.The youngest who is five said she likes it because she can run about and play freely.that says it all from that age my eldest grand daughter loves the pool table and the other games room.I asked them where they would like to go in motor home and they always say the Den & orchard so we will be back again. The staff we saw are lovely helpful if you need anything.so looking forward will see you again.

Disliked Mozzie bites, never been in August before and they really had a chew on us!!! The main road seemed very loud this time full of racers,

Power optional grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked Pitch set up was good. Water was on each pitch. All nicely laid out.
Location was good as only an hour walk to Frome.

Disliked Shower/toilet block needs updating. A few more showers are needed for the size of the site. No one around to answer any questions. We did ring the bell for reception after 3pm as requested, but no one came. Information about the surrounding area would have been helpful. Even a map to get to Frome.

Apple Blossom lodge

Liked Was clean, including the toilet and showers, plenty of space. Nice to have tea and coffee.

2nd visit to the Den and Orchard. Last visited in 2021. Site has been updated with parking spaces near pods, small play area for children and of course the new Apple Blossom Lodge which I don’t remember being there last visit. Lovely especially visiting with our toddler this time. Will definitely consider visiting again

Power optional grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked After a 2 week holiday touring in our campervan, we stayed here for 3 nights. Arriving late our daughter went straight down to the park to play whilst we set everything up. It’s a private gated community so we felt very secure to let our daughter play.
I would return in a heartbeat. We all loved our stay. It is an immaculate site and everything has been thought about to make camping easy and a joy. It has been an absolute pleasure and we were incredibly sad to leave. Well done to the owner into making your site so beautiful. Our daughter had so much fun, thank you.
