  • Family park a couple of minutes' walk from the beach at Brean
  • Within 25 minutes' drive of Weston-super-Mare
  • Fishing lake and play area on site
Picky about how close you stay to the beach? Well, Unity Beach in Somerset is just a couple of minutes' walk away from the beach in Brean, and it's not the only pick in the locale: Burnham-on-Sea beach is a 15-minute drive away, and Weston Super Mare beach is 25 minutes away. On the park, there are bathrooms (with loos, hot showers and underfloor heating), a play area and a fishing lake, as well as direct access to Brean Leisure Park. Guests at Unity Beach get a 50% discount on all of the following leisure park locations: the mammoth Brean Splash waterpark (open during high season only) with indoor and outdoor splash zones, flumes and waterslides; the Brean Play indoor play centre with areas for babies, toddlers and kids up to 11; and Brean Golf Club with 18 holes set around 100 acres of meadow. Guests also get discounted tokens/wristbands for Brean Theme Park's rides and amusements. Once your appetite has been properly worked up with all of those activities, sink down in a seat at one of the several on-park restaurants, snack bars or cafés serving cooked breakfasts, steak, ribs, pizza, kids' meals, takeaways or ice cream during high season – and you might very much like the sound of cocktails served in a fish bowl at American-themed diner RJs…

What customers say

Large, well-kept grounds with great amenities and roomy, clean spots. Staff is frequently commended for friendliness, as are beach access and entertainment, especially for families. While facilities are mostly clean, some found them a bit dated with occasional noise. Food and site amenities are usually a hit. Many want to come back.

Grove Field powered grass campsite

Liked Location was good and close to the beach.

Disliked Very poor organisation and customer service.

We arrived as a group of 9 people in two cars, including children, and there was no proper guidance. We were sent back and forth multiple times and the staff did not assist us at all.

After a long journey, the children were extremely tired and stressed. Due to the lack of support and poor organisation, we were unable to stay overnight and had to return home the same night.

This was a very disappointing experience. We arrived at 12:00 pm, but we were not given our pitch until around 2:00 pm, which caused unnecessary waiting and frustration, especially for the children. We went to the staff member who was supposed to assign our pitch and provide us with the necessary documents. When we asked where our pitch was, he told us to leave the park and ask somewhere outside.

After going back and forth several times, we finally found the location, but the staff member there was surprised and said we should not have been sent there and that the original staff member should have assisted us.

After they contacted him, we had to return again to the same person. Only then, with a laugh, he finally gave us the booklet and our pitch number.

All of this happened while the weather was very bad, with rain and even hail, and the children were already extremely tired and had not had the chance to rest.

Grove Field powered grass campsite

Liked Closeness of toilets and they were kept clean

Disliked Most things. The reception is in a new location but far away from where the pitches are. Staff were rude. Pitch area was really noisy until 3/4am. Bar was very expensive. Entertainment was rubbish. Paid for wifi and didn’t work

Grove Field powered grass campsite

Liked Not a lot to be honest

Disliked To be honest I think Unity has ruined the site especially for touring caravans , the reception is miles away from everything , we had to wait over an hour to get to our pitch as we were told by staff that people turned at midnight and security let them in and allowed them to park where they wanted which completely cocked up the site plan . When we eventually got to our pitch there was no water supply ( turned off ) which meant another long walk back to request a maintenance person to come and take a look , I know now how Sardines feel as being on the touring side it felt like you were packed in very tight , I think Unity is trying to get as many static caravans in on the site as possible and I would not be surprised if the touring side is eventually fazed out .

Local attractions

If you do decide to venture off site (no-one would blame you for a second if you didn't), the best sights of Somerset are within a quick drive. Gorge out on the views of Cheddar Gorge and Caves ten miles away – it's not at all cheesy to state these are among the best in Britain – and take the kids to meet the witch of Wookey Hole Caves within 15 miles, both among the most-visited attractions in the county. Glastonbury is also rather gorgeous and has been visited for aeons by peeps interested in legend and history who come to have a look at Glastonbury Abbey, steeped in stories of King Arthur, and Glastonbury Tor, possibly (you might like to think so anyway) the entrance to the land of the fairies. Learn all about the legends and the Iron Age history of the town at the Glastonbury Lake Village Museum in the fifteenth century merchant's house on Glastonbury High Street; the tourist information centre is here too to see what else to spy nearby. Seasidewise, take a day each at Brean, Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare: the first for the tropical bird garden on Brean Down and the dunes running seven miles to Burnham; the second to look at the lighthouses and stroll off into the Somerset Levels, and the third for its whirly good helicopter museum and Grand Pier. Inland, land at teeny city Wells for a day sightseeing around its cathedral and stonkingly spectacular medieval bishop's palace, moat and gardens, or have a day among the hiking trails and bridleways of Exmoor.
