  • Secluded, largely off-grid glamping site on a Dorset farm
  • Dorset Heavy Horse Farm Park and golf courses within a 10-minute drive
  • Real beds with bedding and towels provided, plus communal kitchen
Surrounded by lush countryside and in the middle of a working farm in Dorset, the adults-only Pavilion at Shaftesbury Estate is a place that's likely to appeal to those who want to switch off and reconnect with a simpler life. The site is mostly off-grid (though charging points are available), and your only neighbours will be the local wildlife: curious rabbits, colourful butterflies and swooping barn owls. Just because you’re off-grid doesn’t mean you have to forgo all creature comforts. At Lord Shaftesbury's estate, these include proper beds (with warm duvets and fluffy pillows), white towels and picnic benches, plus LED rechargeable lamps. After dark, the Pavilion is lit with festoon lights, and there’s a firepit with plenty of wood and firelighters for relaxing evenings under the stars. Dogs are welcome at the site, and they'll no doubt enjoy exploring the many walking trails in the surrounding areas like those at Martin Down National Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ drive). There are also cycling tracks through the woods, or you can arrange a day's fishing with a local fisherman on the river Allen at Brockington (five minutes). You can help yourself to complimentary tea and coffee in the communal area, where a well-equipped kitchen has a hob, oven, fridge and ice box to help you to prepare simple meals. After dinner, on cooler evenings, sit by the woodburner sipping wine and planning what to do the next day. Amenities on site include plumbed toilets and shower cubicles. There are cafés and restaurants in the nearby villages of Cranborne (5 minutes) and Verwood (10 minutes).
