Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (medium, semi-serviced)

Liked: When we arrived to check in we just pulled up to barrier and it reads your number plate also tells you exactly where your pitch is located in a email you get the night before which is a brilliant idea. Facilities excellent not once did I see a dirty shower or toilet every thing was always looking clean and Fresh like you was the first to Use after it had just been cleaned Staff are lovely someone always around if you need them and very friendly when you do. Night time walk up to facilities plenty of soft lighting all around to see, but not enough to spoil the beautiful stars with light pollution. This campsite is super dog friendly and a massive well maintained field area and paths to walk your best friend, not once did I see any dog mess anywhere on this site. There is also vending machines for the little things you may have forgot bacon eggs etc the most yummy milk shakes and even doggy ice cream (peanut butter And banana )and yes I did try it 🤣 There is a local pub but we didn’t go there located just a couple of minutes walk. Would I go again: Absolutely WiFi : yep that’s good too and included in your booking

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about this site

FHU grass campsite (large, super)

Liked: This was our first visit to Portesham. I personally like to read reviews before booking a campsite and after reading others views I have to say we were not disappointed. The pitch was a lovely size and very level. The toilets and shower rooms were exceptionally clean and this is important to us. The showers had plenty of hot water and kept a good pressure. The campsite was peaceful and relaxing which was just what we were looking for. We used the vending machine for milkshakes and freshly squeezed orange juice which was a lovely added extra. We would definitely recommend this site to others and we will be looking to book again.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Absolutely everything, fantastic site with superb facilities. Spotlessly clean & well tendered. Tent pitch was flat with good services. Very friendly staff (waved off every morning as we passed the reception). The site is perfectly locations for Weymouth, Chesil Beach & Dorchester. Very nice pub 5 minutes away. Would definitely book again, we had a wonderful week.

Disliked: An alarm clock of crows waking us up at 06.00 a.m. every morning, they were roosting in a campsites trees lol.

Local attractions

However long you stay here (at least a couple of weeks, preferably), there's enough to see and do around Dorset to entertain all ages and tastes. Ditch the car if you prefer: the local bus stop is 150 yards from the farm entrance, to pick up the Jurassic Coast route bus (X53) running from Exeter to Poole. The Portesham Dairy Farm team recommends a climb up to the Hardy Monument on Black Down (five minutes' drive) as a nifty way to see Dorset and its splendid coastline (the monument isn't to the writer Thomas Hardy as you might expect in these parts, but to Vice Admiral Thomas Hardy, a commander at the Battle of Trafalgar; do be sure to tell that to the kids). You should be able to see the Devon coast, the Mendip Hills and the Isle of Wight from here on a clear day; just clamber the 120 steps up to the viewpoint. Also much recommended is Abbotsbury, home of the famed swannery as well as subtropical gardens and a kids' farm (also five minutes' drive), and the golden sands, sand sculptures and fair rides of Weymouth, 15 minutes from the farm. Portland (25 minutes) is also a must: visit the lighthouse, forage for fossils and come down the hill from the top of town for stunning views of the coast and Chesil Beach.
