Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: A fantastic stopover. Five stars are not enough for all the care taken to provide such lovely facilities. We will be back for longer next time. Beautiful barn with fully equipped kitchen, showers and loos all sparkling clean and spacious. Fantastic walks from the pitches and picture book views. Cannot recommend highly enough

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Scenic location on pitches that are well spaced out. Toilets clean & very nice. The barn conversion is a nice facility, especially if weather cold/wet. Purchased farm's sausages and some local cider too - all very tasty.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike!

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Had a lovely 2 night stay with our young children. The campsite is so quiet and has really amazing views . The facilities are great and the owners so friendly and welcoming. They let our children feed the pigs and hold the chickens which they loved. We were there for the pizza night on Saturday and they were so delicious! Will definitely stay again hopefully for longer next time . Thank you

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: A beautiful small and quiet site on gentle hills with lovely views. Lots of wildlife. We saw several types of birds of prey while sitting at our tent and did stargazing in the evenings. A generous space between pitches. The children loved the pigs and chickens! The toilets were clean and spider free and there was a really nice barn with kitchen if indoor space had been needed. We bought some local cider and sausages from the camping ‘shop’ too. We drove the car to the pitch for set up and take down, and parked in the site car park in between, which meant the site was a lot safer for kids as the car activity from all campers was minimal. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We would love to come back for a longer stay.

Local attractions

If you’re camping with kids, chances are they’ll be keen to get to the beach. Indulge them with a day out at West Bay (15 minutes’ drive), where you can all go fishing, rookpooling and crabbing, or make like Kate Winslet and head to Charmouth (half an hour) to rootle around on the beach for fossils. Dog-friendly Hive Beach (20 minutes) is a clever option for long walks with your furry friends under the shelter of limestone cliffs. The South West Coast Path (15 minutes) passes through the area if you fancy more challenging all-day hikes with impressive sea and sand views from soaring clifftops. The trail heads past lively Bridport (10 minutes); stop there a while to check out its antiques shops or take a high-speed RIB cruise to see the Jurassic Coast from the water. Firmly back on land, take the kids to feed donkeys and wallabies at Vurlands Animal Farm (20 minutes), or spend the day getting up close to the Mute swan colony at Abbotsbury Swannery (35 minutes).
