  • Peaceful wild camping on a working farm close to Dartmoor in Devon
  • A 20-minute drive to Kingsbridge beaches, Totnes and Dartmoor Zoo
  • Simple site with no facilities; five minutes’ drive to a pub and shop
Torn between moorland hikes and days at the beach? No need to worry any more, as Higher Coarsewell Farm’s wild camping field is just 10 minutes’ drive from Dartmoor National Park and half an hour from some of the best beaches the south-west has to offer. In a peaceful location on a working sheep and cattle farm in the South Hams, Devon, the camping field offers uninterrupted views across the valley, where animals graze contentedly in surrounding fields. The pitches are very spacious, but there are no facilities on this site, so please bring torches and drinking water with you. Your canine chums are more than welcome to share your Devon adventure, but they must be kept on a short lead at all times due to livestock – and please always clean up after them. There are loads of walking routes straight from the pitches, and the site is also a half-hour’s drive from the South West Coast Path if you’re after challenging long-distance hiking combined with spectacular sea views. There is a local shop (and a pub) around five minutes’ drive away, where you can pick up bits and bobs like milk, bread and newspapers to burgers and sausages for your evening barbecue.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely flat, clean field to just chill out and relax in. It's is just the field, it hasn't any toilets or showers, but the view more than makes up for it.

Disliked: It hasn't any toilet block. We though knew this so didn't expect it.
