Sometimes simple is best, and that’s certainly the case at Ramblers’ Rest, a small glamping site with just a brace of pre-erected rental tents languishing in a sheltered field at Princetown in Dartmoor National Park. No hassle of putting up a tent for you – just arrive, settle in and let your holiday begin. Each octagonal tent has a ready-made air bed (either king-size or double), with all bed linen included. Bedside tables, lamps and a small shelving unit for storing your gear complete the interior offerings, while outside are firepits, granite slabs to sit on and picnic tables. In front of the site’s main building is a terrace with outdoor tables and chairs, and you can cook up a feast in the outdoor kitchen with a log burner and pizza ovens, or hone your alfresco cooking skills on borrowed barbecues. Princetown is at the centre of Dartmoor, with a diverse range of essentials shops and a post office as well as pubs, cafés and restaurants. There are often special discounts for Ramblers’ Rest guests available in the village; please ask the site owners for more details.
