Heading for Devon and not sure whether you want to be on the coast or near a lively town? You are within easy reach of both if you opt to stay at OutStanding In Our Field, a tiny microsite with just one bell tent 10 minutes’ drive from Dartmouth museums, shops and pubs, and the same distance from the sheltered sweep of beach at Blackpool Sands.
The tent is fully furnished with a kingsize bed, all linens, a feather duvet and options for up to two beds for kids if required (for a small extra charge per night). Included in the deal are towels, an off-grid gas-powered shower, eco-friendly toiletries and access to a shared cabin with sockets for charging devices, a kettle and tea/coffee-making facilities. You can cosy up around your firepit or dine alfresco at the picnic table; all basic kitchen needs are provided too, from saucepans to crockery and cutlery.
The site owners live at the opposite side of the field in a static caravan, so are around (in a very non-intrusive sort of way) if you need any assistance. They’ll certainly be on hand to help with your gear on arrival and departure, or leave a trolley for you if they’re not available – the parking space is a couple of minutes’ walk away through the newly planted orchard.
