  • Small, quiet and dog-friendly site on a Devon family dairy farm
  • Bideford, Clovelly and Milky Way Adventure Park within 15 mins' drive
  • Flat and spacious pitches sheltered by mature hedgerow
All the essentials have been sorted for guests staying at Stroxworthy Farm Campsite – pitches at this Devon family farm site are flat, spacious and south-facing to make the most of the day’s sun. They’re also surrounded by a mature hedgerow, so there’s plenty of shelter if the weather doesn’t feature so much sun… Facilities have been similarly well done – guests at this small site have access to two toilets, one shower, one kitchen sink for washing-up and a small shed for recycling and rubbish disposal. Facilities may get busy at peak times of the year, so you're welcome to bring your own toilet and washing facilities. You’re also welcome to bring dogs along as long as they’re kept on a lead on site (there are plenty of places to take them out for a walk nearby on footpaths or through the forest). Life here is all about enjoying some rural time – the site has spectacular views over the Devon landscape (reaching as far as Dartmoor on a clear day) and dark skies for some excellent stargazing on clear nights. As it’s a working farm your neighbours will be the herd of predominantly Friesian and Brown Swiss cows that live on site (they’re milked by the sixth generation of the same family to farm here). Hiding away here down a little private lane you’ll feel like you’re well away from all civilisation, but in fact the village of Woolfardisworthy is five minutes’ drive away (for an excellent village shop, pub and dairy selling fresh milk) and the A39 Atlantic Highway is three miles away to take you off to adventures elsewhere along the north Devon coast.

Liked: Loved everything, lovely welcome when we arrived our pitch was sign posted and everything was in easy access of the pitches. There is a small shower block which was lovel and warm plus a couple of toilets. As an added bonus they had a huge field that was available for us to allow our dog off lead which she loved. Stunning views out over the country side. Lovely and quiet at night. Perfect site for us.

FHU grass campsite

Liked: Beautiful site with great views, very peaceful surrounding. Owner came to meet us personally which was a nice touch. Large dog walking field.

Disliked: Nothing I disliked but would imagine in high season you would have to que for the shower and toilet as only one of each.

Croft field FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Adult only, large dog exercise field, very clean shower/toilet, nice views, quiet, very helpful and friendly owner, good location, level pitches.

Disliked: Our pitch was next to the facilities, which made it a bit smaller than others, also a little smelly when someone was emptying their cassette. But it was a lovely pitch otherwise.

FHU grass campsite

Liked: Lovely very peaceful sight with stunning views well hidden off the beaten track , Was met by Phil when we arrived, lovely guy and very helpful explaining about everything! well kept pitches fabulous being on fully serviced pitch when your away for a week, lovely hot shower room with toilet and also separate toilet! And washing up area too. Plenty of nearby places to visit and see some beautiful beaches and dog friendly beaches within a few miles! Can be a bit daunting when driving the lanes and tractors are coming the opposite way so need to be very mindful when driving especially round the bends . Overall we had a lovely time ! Especially the peaceful atmosphere whilst sat outside the caravan in the early evening

Disliked: The local chippy as paying £25 for 2 lots of fish n chips which we were looking forward too !! Were absolutely terrible fish was very thin and batter was very oily , as for the chips there were very hard over crispy liked they’d been warmed up !you just couldn’t eat them , And unfortunately they ended up in the bin ! Was vey disappointed . Nothing to dislike about the site at all !!

Liked: The views are amazing Friendly staff, gave us a warm welcome. Facilities were basic but clean Nice large field to walk my dogs they loved it. I loved the welcome email we received the day before, full of great information. We will return. Booking through pitch up made everything easy.

Disliked: Just the lane up to the site, quite a few potholes.

Croft field FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: What an absolute gem of a site! Just 10 pitches, adults only and so very quiet - bliss. Excellent bathroom and an extra toilet, lovely enclosed dish washing area and with a microwave to use for free! There’s a massive enclosed field where you can let your dog off too. Jane is lovely, very welcoming and will answer your questions about the site/area. I would definitely return and highly recommend.

FHU grass campsite

Liked: Friendly welcome. Beautiful, small, quiet, peaceful site. Facilities are basic, as one would expect, but very well maintained & clean. It had everything we needed. The views across the Devon countryside is outstanding. A huge field for dog exercise is available. And it is adults only- a big bonus for us! No Wi-Fi but excellent 4G signal throughout our stay.

Disliked: Nothing, this is an outstanding small site. The narrow roads may cause some drivers apprehension. We met a tractor on a single lane, but managed, so I am sure you would too!

Route directions

The site does not recommend that guests towing caravans follow a Satnav. Their instructions take you through some narrow country lanes. Instead, they recommend travelling to the campsite via the village of Woolsery (Woolfardisworthy) by leaving the A39 at Bucks Cross and following the road into the village. You can also reach the site from the direction of Stibb Cross by passing through Powlers Peice with no difficulties.
