Powered grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Position of site is great, level pitch, showers were hot and no freezing first minute for it to warm up. Pub is incredible, ale was great. Electric & water close to pitch. Awesome young lady in pub calmed us & sorted us out when we were not allocated a pitch on list.

Disliked: Leaking water under wall of gents toilet cubicle. Site seemed to have no warden we could see. Looked a little unloved

Powered grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Location walking distance to the harbour. We're regular visitors

Disliked: Pitched us on the bottom field right next to the fence near road so we got the boy racers and pub leavers shouting. When I asked if we could move the answer was no even though there were vacant pitches.

Powered grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Handy location for where I needed to be for a couple of days - flat pitches

Disliked: No WiFi at all on original pitch despite advertising it was on every pitch. Hook up didn’t work at the pitch I was then moved to when I asked but no-one around as pub shut for me to ask to sort so left early next day. Showers tired though clean and water hot, though pressure drops when others using. Very basic un-exciting site and next to main road for constant car noise in background at first pitch.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Great location. Good showers....no push button, hot, and clean. Reasonable site...no views, no frills. Quiet bar.

Disliked: 10am departure.....earliest we have ever had and not to our liking. Not as if there's any maintainable to do in the time before check-in

Powered grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Close to village.

Disliked: Never saw any staff around, had to check in at the pub bar (this was not advised before arrival), so no info given on arrival so had to hunt for the drinking water tap. We were on a pitch in the field with no driveway, access was through a metal farm gate which had to be lifted and dragged open/shut then across a potholed, muddy car park belonging to a football club. We therefore had a good walk to reach the showers/toilets and we were unfortunate to have wet weather. Toilet /shower block facilities were in need of updating; ie: hooks were missing off walls/ doors so there was nowhere to put clothes apart from the stool which was too close to the shower. Gents toilet cubicle door had been kicked in, these toilets also seemed to be used by the pubs customers. The higher area with hardstanding pitches did look better.

Local attractions

If you’re keen to get out on the water, Porthleven beach (five minutes’ walk) is a fantastic surfing spot, and you can take coastal cruises (try one at dusk for spectacular sunset views) or sea-fishing trips from Porthleven harbour (10 minutes). Meanwhile, at Marazion (15 minutes’ drive) it’s a short hop across the bay to the crag-top castle and gardens at Mount St Michael. Kids will clamour to get on the coasters and flumes at Flambards Theme Park (10 minutes), or splash in the sea at sheltered Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach. There are plenty of family hikes along the Lizard Heritage Coast (both 20 minutes) and lots of seabirds for the kids to spot along the way. And there’s masses of art and culture in these parts too; the galleries and museums of St Ives (30 minutes) warrant a day’s attention, and there are rare plants and wacky artworks to be seen in Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (20 minutes).
