  • Coastal site with dog-friendly grassy pitches on a family-run farm
  • A 15-minute drive from Looe, Adrenalin Quarry and Wild Futures
  • Walking distance from beaches, cafés, pubs, shops and the coastal path
Craving the seaside with all the cream and sprinkles on top? Well, there are tasty beaches, fishing villages and coastal walks all around Trewall Farm Campsite. It’s a truly Cornish stay at this coastal site and the sea will never seem far away, as the dog-friendly and family-friendly grassy pitches look right over the big blue – and Whitsand Bay (10 minutes’ drive) and Looe’s fishing town are right in view too (15 minutes’ drive for this traditional little place). As for your neighbours, you’ll be sharing this working farm with cows and sheep. Toilets, showers and a fresh water tap have their place on the farm, so you won’t be without the basic comforts. As for taking in the view, perhaps you'll want to lay down a blanket on the flat pitches or gather everyone about for a game – there’s plenty of space to do either. You might be surprised where your feet can take you from this site, whether it’s local fish and chip shops or the South West Coast Path (20 minutes’ walk). Downderry village’s well-stocked shop, pub on the shore, bistro or vegan café down by the dog-friendly beach are all within 20 minutes’ walk too. Seaton’s the next place over and 35 minutes’ walk away – it has a long stretch of sand and the wildlife-packed Seaton Valley Countryside Park. It's pretty well primed for picnics too, so you may want to head to local farm shops or supermarkets within 10 miles of the site to get ready.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Such a beautiful site, gorgeous sea views from every angle. Felt privileged to be able to spend a night here. Extremely well-cared for site, perfect showers and toilets, plus facs for phone-charging, ice block freezing if needed. Paul the owner ( and Michelle) couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly or helpful. Very dog-friendly. Lane down to Downderry and beach lovely, a walking lane, very relaxing. Would love to come again.

Disliked: Nothing.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: We loved staying at this campsite. It’s in a great location with a short walk into Downderry with the beach and a lovely pub overlooking the beach. We walked to Seaton too and had lunch in the pub there. We were lucky to catch the raft race which was great fun. The campsite is lovely, nice and quiet but not so quiet you feel awkward about making noise, in fact we were able to listen to music and chat in our gazebo without it being heard by anyone else. It’s spacious too, we could play cricket without being near any tents or cars. The toilets and showers are great, clean and a powerful shower. There’s a fridge to keep food and drinks in and you can buy eggs as well. The campsite owner was nice and recommended some fun things to do. We had a great weekend and will definitely be back again

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Everything to like and more, the view when you arrive is a wow factor and to see it from every angle is priceless. Pick a pitch of your own then sit back and enjoy. 20 min walk to the beach downs a steep narrow road or a little further to Seaton for a bit more. Looe is about a 3 hr walk with some step inclines. Bus is available to get back. Facilities are all that you need, clean and tidy with extras. Fridge/freezer,phone charging hire, fire pit.

Disliked: Not one!

Liked: The site is lovely, quiet, with great views from every pitch, really good facilities and Paul is friendly and helpful. We loved this site and will definitely return

Disliked: The walk into Downderry is via a fairly steep and fairly long hill. It is down a road but the road should really be unclassified and isn't usable for cars so no traffic but it is a bit of a climb .... but worth it

Local attractions

Things might seem easygoing so far, but there’s just the place nearby to raise the stakes. Adrenalin Quarry (15 minutes’ drive) lives up to its name, thanks to its aqua park, go-karting circuit and 490-metre zipwire (that’s if you have the courage to take the leap from the 50-metre cliff). Segways are the sport of choice at Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park (half an hour). This historic park by the sea has more than just coastal views: it’s also an estate with activities from survival courses to archery, watersports and circus skills (stilts, anyone?). For the animal world, some fur (or feather) therapy takes place at Porfell Wildlife Park & Sanctuary (half an hour). There’s the opportunity to be a keeper for a day both here and at Wild Futures (15 minutes), a local monkey sanctuary. Rainforest biomes are the territory for a whole load of tropical plants and that’s the tune at Eden Project (45 minutes). Polperro (half an hour) is along the coast in the same direction, so perhaps you’ll want to pair your trip there with a visit to the large fishing village, where walks, beaches and fishing trips are rife.
