  • Dog-friendly Cornwall site bordered by woodlands outside Blackwater
  • St Agnes and Perranporth 10 minutes' drive; half an hour to Falmouth
  • Easy access to A30 and A390; pub and bakery a couple of minutes' walk
Can’t decide between Cornwall’s north and south coasts? At Burrow Farm Camping you can bag yourselves a handy rural spot in the middle, then have both stunning stretches of coast to choose from on a daily basis… This friendly family-run site is just outside the village of Blackwater, in a strategic position close to the A30 and A390 for easy jaunts to all the county’s popular attractions. That location puts north-coast spots like St Agnes and Perranporth within a 10-minute drive and south-coast draws including Falmouth, Trebah Garden and St Michael’s Mount about half an hour away (with plenty more to choose from around both coasts and countryside too). Your friendly hosts at this lovely location are Darryl and Claire and their two dogs Bella and Beau, a charming canine pair who are always keen to say hello and are happy to share their home with visiting dogs. There’s always someone on hand to welcome guests to the site, help them settle in and dish out local recommendations (perhaps pointing you to nearby walks and bike rides, or just to the nearest pub…) This is a peaceful site with low-key facilities and plenty of privacy from its border of woodland. You’ll be staying on a well-maintained field with access to all sorts of essential facilities including toilets, showers, a washing-up area, a recycling point and fresh drinking water. A pub, bakery and chain coffee shop are a couple of minutes’ walk away, with another pub, a convenience store and a bus stop a mile away in the village centre.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Claire and Darryl were amazing hosts, they couldn’t do enough to help. They were always on hand to offer advice about the local area and the best places to visit. The campsite was immaculate and very well kept, the facilities were by far the best we have experienced. The setup of the campsite is very pretty, especially in the evening sat in the cozy sofa area with the fairy lights watching the stars! The welcome pack with discounted local businesses were greatly appreciated. Highly recommend visiting the local beach St Agnus, with a great bar/pizza restaurant overlooking the beach! We also thoroughly enjoyed visiting Healey’s cyder farm (Rattler), but being 7 minutes away, I’d recommend a taxi due to the amount of sampling on offer 😂 We look forward to coming back in the near future Kristian, sarah and puppy Luna

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about the campsite at all.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Burrow Farm is by far one of the best sites in Cornwall that we have ever visited. Immaculately clean and well cared for, fantastic facilities and amazing hosts. Darryl and Claire went above and beyond to facilitate our needs/requests, from local knowledge to discounts from local businesses. We planned to move on to another site but loved the calm, beautiful and idyllic location, which enabled us to visit everywhere we had planned. All within easy travelling distances. Will definitely visit again. Next time I’m booking one of the fabulous Bell tents for the luxury end to our travels. Vanessa and Colin. Thanks guys you’re awesome.xx

Disliked: There is nothing to dislike about this site. 100% satisfied. 👍

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Fantastic dog friendly and adult only site and equally fantastic owners. Small site but large, well grassed pitches. Excellent and clean facilities. Large woodland area for exercising dogs. Owners keen to ensure that stay is good but also maintain personal privacy and space. The site is opposite a pub, which is helpful for food/drinks when you don't feel like cooking on site or the weather is bad. No noise disturbance can be heard from the pub. The site is very close to Truro and also lovely beaches such as Porthtowan, St Agnes, Chapel Porth etc. I look forward to returning at some point.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. Lovely site and owners.

From the manager: Michelle, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and little Betty and have you stay with us. We are so pleased that you had such a lovely experience at our little site. We are small in size, but big in giving guests the best experience possible so that they enjoy their holiday. You are both welcome back at any time in the near future.

Local attractions

The north coast is the slightly closer one here, so it makes sense to start there – perhaps with an outing to St Agnes, Chapel Porth beach or the sweeping sands at Perranporth (all 10 minutes’ drive) or a walk on the South West Coast Path from whichever point you choose. Brought bikes? The Saints cycle trail passes by the farm for easy trips to Perranporth or St Agnes). Looking south instead, you may like to visit the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth (half an hour), stroll around the 26 acres of subtropical plant life at Trebah Garden (35 minutes) or cross the causeway to St Michael’s Mount (half an hour). Back up on the north coast, St Ives (35 minutes) and Padstow (45 minutes) are well worth visiting for their arty vibe and food scene respectively. It’s not all about the coast of course – in between are places like Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm (10 minutes), Truro (15 minutes) and the Eden Project (45 minutes) – plus plenty of options for walks in the surrounding farmland and woodland.
