  • Pop-up camping field on a Cornish farm near Truro and Perranporth
  • A 20-minute drive from Newquay’s zoo and Fistral surfing beach
  • Wild camping close to a cider farm, pubs, shops and animal sanctuaries
Allet Farm’s wild camping field is set on a working farm near Truro in Cornwall, with cows and Shetland ponies grazing peacefully in neighbouring fields. This is a smashing, pop-up base for surfers (close to north-coast beaches) and families with curious kids (lots of wildlife attractions). For starters, the site owners are happy to show anyone around the farm and introduce their animals, and within 40 minutes, you can treat the children to close-up encounters at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. Visits to Newquay Zoo and the Screech Owl Sanctuary (both 20 minutes’ drive) are on the cards too, and you can let younger kids run around in safe play areas at Lappa Valley (15 minutes) to tire them out too. Now about those surfing spots: Newquay’s famed Fistral beach is a 20-minute drive away. Expert or complete surfing rookie? It doesn’t matter here, as you can hire boards, take lessons or simply jump on a wave. Trips to Perranporth (10 minutes) and Chapel Porth (15 minutes) beaches should be on your itinerary too. Back on site, simple amenities include a loo block, washing-up area and a communal fridge – and wifi is available in some places. As well as cider farm (yay – tasting available) and ice-cream parlour (another score for the kids), there’s a family-friendly pub in Shortlanesend village (five minutes), and a local store where you can pick up essentials.

What customers say

This peaceful, friendly campsite offers stunning views near Truro and Newquay. Guests loved the clean cabins, welcoming hosts, and farm animals. Minor notes on shower holders and bathroom facilities didn't dampen the overwhelmingly positive, highly recommended experience.

Powered grass and earth travel trailer campsite (no pets)

Liked This was in a nice quiet location close to attractions, and the owners left us to our own devices.

Disliked Showers towards the end of the day we're a bit grim, but to be expected with 4 families using them

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite (no pets)

Liked Cosy, peaceful cabin, equipped with everything you need, even Netflix is available :-), enclosed garden good for our dog, nice hot shower. Good WIFI. We found that Porthcurnick beach is best for dogs not on lead. If you go before 10am when is low tide there is plenty of space for you and your dog, we parked at Rosevine.
