  • Mongolian yurt in a nearly wild site with spectacular views
  • Set on three acres of rewilding nature reserve
  • Therapies and treatments available on site
Space, serenity and a secluded setting… all yours for the taking at north Cornwall’s Raven’s Nest, a spectacularly scenic off-grid glampsite that takes only a couple of guests at a time. It’s an excellent mix of wild and comfy here: the nearly wild site covers three full acres of rewilding nature reserve, making up an exclusively private enclosed and safe space for guests. Within that is the Raven’s Nest traditional Mongolian yurt, fully insulated with Mongolian felt and with chairs and a table, candles, cutlery and a futon with bedding provided. A firepit is outdoors for long evenings by the flames… after which you can bed down in the yurt and watch the stars through the skylight; this is an area of low light pollution. Covering the essentials, there’s also access to a compost toilet and a water tap on the yurt pitch, and kitchen and shower facilities in an adjacent mobile home. The setting is equally excellent, set close to the north Cornish coast between Launceston and Bude, and with views all the way towards Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. Launceston is about 20 minutes’ drive away; towards the coast, it’s the same distance to Bude, Crackington Haven and Summerleaze beach, half an hour to Boscastle and just over an hour to more surfing at Newquay. And if you’re here for a thoroughly unwinding time? Raven’s Yurt is also home to The Healing Centre, run by a qualified and professional therapist offering treatments in holistic massage, reiki, reflexology and shamanic healing: ask on site when you arrive to see what’s available to book.

Local attractions

The secluded setting of Raven’s Nest is about seven and a half miles from the A30 and Launceston for easy access to days out around north Cornwall and inland. Bodmin Moor is half an hour’s drive south and Dartmoor 40 minutes to the east. Closer to home, the Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre 10 minutes’ drive away is a wildlife and safari park over 21 acres with otters, owls, deer and wallabies, along with two lakes and a wild wood enclosure with deer, meerkats and birds of prey. The centre also has a gift shop, free parking and an award-winning tearoom. If you’re heading towards Tintagel (recommended), stop off just outside town at St Nectans Glen waterfalls, a woodland area along the Trevillet river home to the 60-foot cascade of St Nectan's Kieve, an old Celtic pilgrimage spot. From Tintagel, further hikes are accessible along the South West Coast Path, on the three and a half-mile King Arthur walk past the castle from Tintagel Visitor Centre, or the challenging nine-mile trek to Port Isaac via Trebarwith Strand.
