Acorn camping pod

Liked: Acorn Pod was cosy and clean, with all amenities close by. Included some nice extras like a toaster, fridge, kettle, and plug sockets. Bedding (sheets, duvets, pillows) provided were of a good quality. Saw some of the farm animals on our last day which was very nice! Within 17 minute drive of beaches like Widemouth Bay, Bude, and Boscastle. On site pub is good and serves a decent selection of food and local beer (for a good price). Included good veggie options too for my partner.

Disliked: Many of these points are specific to the Acorn Pod, and wouldn’t be applicable to camping Bed in the Acorn Pod was very uncomfortable, with springs visibly sticking out. We had to buy an extra blanket so we could sleep on the provided duvet instead of on the mattress directly. There were no privacy/blackout blinds on the front door, meaning we had very little privacy at night time (there was a family camping directly in front of us that were able to see in) Back window was missing its key, and the campsite didn’t have spares, so the pod got hot very quickly (especially at night) The site toilets left a bit to the imagination, and the showers run incredibly hot - too hot to stand under them for longer than a few seconds. Not sure how kids would deal with that heat. Whereas the website states that WiFi is included, you actually have to pay a day rate - one to bear in mind

Powered grass campsite

Liked: This is an amazing campsite. We stayed here 2 years ago and loved it then, so had to come back this year. My other half and little girl loved the fishing lakes and wlthey caught a few fish between them. We love the Stumble Inn there lovely food and good selection of drinks locals go in and are friendly so nice to chat with them and staff are lovely. The facilities are clean and tidy only problem when i went to have a shower there was no hot water but my partner had a hot shower avery day and was ok. Would definitely come back to this campsite again.

Disliked: That there is only one toilet facilities a walk from the tent pitches.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Three families with children. Very welcoming and clean. We loved the quietness and how relaxing it is. Waking up to cows and sheep in the fields next door was great. The stumble in was lovely, got to mix with locals, drinks, pool and great food. Hot showers and indoor washing up facilities. Freezer available and washing machine/dryer. We enjoyed our 2 week stay.

Disliked: The gravel stones on the paths, but that’s what you get on a farm. Not a dislike but we thought the fishing lake would have been brilliant to be able to use our sup/kayak on or wild swimming.

Liked: Fantastic site. The owners are really friendly as are the staff. Nothing was too much trouble (even when I asked for some cinnamon for my crumble!) The food is exceptional and very large portions. Such a friendly site with the kids all playing together in the field. Everyone respected each others privacy and all was quiet by 10pm. No noise from the on site bar at all which was welcomed. Such a lovely place to stay. I would highly recommend

Disliked: Coming home!

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: The whole experience was absolutely lovely and Alan and his wife are the most welcoming and funny people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The site is beautiful and perfect especially at night. The facilities are kept clean and on top o, they even offer a washer and dryer on site which is perfect for families with small children. They also have their own restaurant and even offer their own meat for sale to put on the bbq, the meat is exquisite they also offer home made chutneys and jams and other small bits and pieces to get you through but the best bit for my family was the bar and the company behind it you couldn't feel more at home. I'm quite poorly and without them this holiday wouldn't have been possible they really are an amazing couple and I hope to get down again next year with my family thank you for an amazing experience for me and my family and we can't wait to meet again. From the proctor family

Disliked: There was nothing wr disliked maybe the wasps but that can't be helped and certainly isn't their fault we just had to make sure we kept everything clean after cooking and eating.

Local attractions

North Cornwall, north Devon and Dartmoor are all easily reachable from Chelsfield Farm, for days around coast and countryside, wildlife watching and walking, cantering around on horseback and fishing via shore and river. Tintagel Castle, the Crealy Great Adventure Park and other top Cornish family spots are within a short drive. Most folk know nearby Bude for its surf, but you'll find a fair bit to do around town and out of the water too, from cantering on its coastline to potters around its old harbour or letting the kids loose at the town's six-storey indoor play centre. The spectacular South West Coast Path runs from Bude to Crackington Haven and from there onto Boscastle and Tintagel, or you could hike in the other direction 15 miles to Hartford Quay via the Hartford Peninsula and then – if you dare – another 10 miles onto the tiny cobbled town of north Devon's Clovelly. Other activities all around include sea fishing, clay pigeon shooting, birdwatching, and spotting local wildlife like red deer, roe deer, foxes, badgers, frogs, newts, toads, squirrels and hedgehogs: it's very much recommended that you bring your paintbox and your camera…
