Liked: Absolutely everything. Mike & Jayne area awesome. So friendly and welcoming from the moment of arrival. We had issues with our van and Mike couldn't do enough to help us. Oh, and the carrot cake was to die for. The showers and toilets were also spotless...honestly, cannot fault anything.

Disliked: The crazy drivers on the main road.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: The host - we actually thought it was going to be a very judgemental place but actually we were so wrong. Loved it here. The host was actually so funny and nice and the facilities were clean ! Flat pitch and loads of space ( two with a tent ). Water temperature on the shower was great also.

Disliked: The wind ( nothing to do with the site )

From the manager: Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. I am glad that you loved our site and found it not to be judgmental 😀. It just goes to prove the old saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” 😂. We value equality and diversity and like to think that we treat everyone as equals. We pride ourselves on keeping the site clean and tidy and running smoothly and appreciate the feedback that we get. We hope you will recommend us to your friends and visit again in the future. Liked: It's always a gamble booking somewhere you haven't been before but we certainly won the golden ticket. Mike the owner is very helpful and friendly. He shared where best local businesses we needed, especially the best local pasty! The site is a large field where pitches are all around the perimeter leaving the centre free. There is also other pitches in smaller areas. The facilities were spotless being cleaned regularly by Mike and Jayne themselves. They should be proud of what they've achieved. Thank you for making our holiday enjoyable, and yes we will be back if we're coming back to Cornwall anytime.

Disliked: My daughter thought a waste bin would be useful in the shower cubicle similar to the ones in the toilets, but just a suggestion.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so glad that your gamble paid off for you and you felt like you had ‘won the golden ticket’ and that we helped to make your holiday enjoyable. Thank you for your daughter’s suggestion re bins in the showers. We have actually done this in the past but found that they ended up being abused and used for dumping all sorts, such as food, broken glass, rather than putting it in the bigger bins by the gate, which we felt was a health and safety risk. We hope you do come to lovely Cornwall in the future. Jayne and Mike 😀

Liked: We were very welcomed to the site of which was spacious, flat, clean and well maintained. We chose this for it's ideal location to one of my favourite sites to relax and see the sunrise at Godrevy Lighthouse, and easy access to other beaches and surrounding places to visit.

Disliked: The only dislike, so be warned. Was the damn cockerals 🐓 next door to the site make a lot of noise. We had to turn it into a joke as after the leader had woken everyone, the youngsters would try their voices, it was like teacher and student 😂.

Local attractions

The beaches along this stretch of Cornwall’s coast are top spots for watersports, nature walks and the simple pleasures of splashing in the sea. Walk the coast path up to the more secluded sands at Godrevy (a 10-minute drive), then onwards to spot seals from Godrevy Point. For days away from the waves, there’s go-karting to be had at Hayle as well as animal encounters and indoor play at the Paradise Park and Jungle Barn. For something more artistic, make for St Ives (20 minutes) for a wander round the Tate Gallery and the studio of sculptor Barbara Hepworth or go underground on a walk through Cornwall’s industrial history at the Geevor Tin Mine (half an hour). Penzance is your place for boat trips: fishing, seal spotting and dolphin watching as well as the daily ferries to the Scilly Isles (you can take the helicopter for a quicker trip). Day trips to this subtropical island group are very doable, with many visitors hiring bikes to explore the beaches or find spots to go snorkelling with the friendly grey seals. For a closer island experience, take a 20-minute drive to Marazion then walk the cobbled causeway to St Michael’s Mount. It might involve a boat ride at certain times of day, so check ahead, but however you arrive you’ll find a treat on this island with its medieval chapel and castle, winding paths and nature-filled gardens.
